Wycombe (H)

Hard to look foward to this! Wycombe have a lost a bit of form since the start of the season when they was top of league, clinging onto a playoff spot.

They have been beaten in their last four away games. Hopefully Crawford's is nearing a comeback which will be a positive.

The once gleaming white steelwork is literally now green with algae. Shame still a belting stadium from a far and one we should be proud of.

We was talking about the grey metal sheeting in each top corner yesterday, so tired and near enough black

Surprised Sargent chino doesn’t have the u23 jet washing it down for being so poor

Lowe gets a lot of stick but gets on with it and, if he was allowed to do a proper job of shielding the centre backs with more creative sorts (Crawford) to shove it forward to, he'd be solid and reliable at it.

Probably doesn't put his hand up to keep being sent to right back in games but it said a lot that yesterday he was a lot better than Emmanuel

Bigger problem yesterday was how badly the likes of L Murphy,  Hamilton and Politic disappeared from the game and the subs made no impact whatsoever. Dodoo is not a central striker, can be good when out wide and running at people, clueless with back to goal of if ball in the air. Beckford like in his faintheart efforts at aerial combat

Had nothing going forward yesterday. I feel sorry for Matthews hes getting loads of grief and the defence didnt win a header from a cross all day, the organisation in defence is terrible, what are they doing in training?? They offer nothing in attack, this should be treated as the longest preseason ever building for next year but I can't see any progress.. Hill comes across as a typical boltonian United fan arrogant and clueless with a complete lack of self awareness.

Brockbank will be most likely be another who’ll follow Hill around, definitely not a full back but might make it non league centre half.

Getting ready for 21/22 then

Don't mention washing shit from the upper tier down to the lower.

Matthews made a few decent stops yesterday - the usual groans about his poor distribution aside.

Of the players out of contract in summer, there’s only Matthews, Lowe and Darcy I really want to see sign up for at least 12 more months. A few others I’d accept but personally want shut of quite a chunk of this lot

2 points, we had fans who reckoned jussi was shit, so ive long since stopped caring what mouth breathers on the internet say about our keepers

But

We have outfield players who cant pass it 5 yards, why folk expect our keeper to be hitting it 60 yards, fuck knows

Unless they are utter simpletons

Emmanuel was on a yellow

Couldn't be trusted to survive 90

Subbing him was the right thing to do but moving Lowe to full back was a disaster and shows KH what he is; someone with no idea

Given how attack-minded our full-backs seem to be it surprised me that he didn't utilise them for a quick break.

Some conspiratorial nut under the ESL yesterday was braying about how he's mates with Darcy and he won't be signing for us, "not for £500 a week anyway".

Same nut also reckoned we did try for Clough but wouldn't stump up the £5k a week that Forest wanted.

So Cannavaro couldn't have marked that lardy fat lump? Aye awreet.

Seriously though, if Brockys good enough for central def then he's tall enough - doubt he'll make it in that position myself like.

Akinfenwa is a fucking imobile lump of a unit but barely an ounce of fat in the man. There's like a 6ft radius around him when he tries to win a header that it's near impossible to get in. Like RRF said play him like canavaro would do and play for the 2nd ball. We seemed obsessed with the futile attempt to win the header but were no where near the 2nd ball.

Jason Lowe?

Limited ability, but no shirker. He's absolutely nowhere near the top of our on-field problems. No nonsense, nice and steady. He's very aware of what he can and can't do. If we could afford him, I'd have no issues with him being the leader of an otherwise fairly young team next season.

Brockbank
Edwards
Zouma
Bunney
Senior
Graham
Faal all need to given some game time in the comng months to prepare them for next season, but just 1 or 2 at a time, let's not throw them all in at once.

That group of players would get relegated from the National League

That just reminded me of Kevin Francis at Burnden when we just backed off & let him win all the headers & swept up the knock ons... After the previous problems he'd caused us we finally made him look like the stump he actually was.

Was that the game John McGinlay went face to face chest with him, laughed and walked away bouncing an imaginary basketball?

Yes 100% agree, plenty of ex pro’s will be looking for jobs soon and a Phil Neal type appointment is exactly what we need.

Neal spent some money but had us relegated to Div 4 eighteen months into his management, there weren't many praising him then.

Who would be the equivalent player manager from Liverpool now, maybe James Milner?

Usually it’s backwards. Which I’ve no issue with now and again, except  it’s 90% of the time.

This. Too easy, and experienced players ought to be able to get their head up, and direct things.

Much rather him than Murphy though.

Not correct their Rog.

His arrival came too late to halt the slide into div 4, but it had the benefit of allowing his time to assess what he had and what he needed. Rebuilding the next season, with a far more professional outfit.

Exactly what we need now; if we're relying on Rochdale old boys, beyond their sell buy date who perhaps share a similar antiquated approach then I worry for next season.

I had no problem with neal and he definitely left us in a better place than when he arrived.

However, im pretty sure he had been managing us 18 months when we were relegated

Hills prob had little more than 18 games

1985 Twitter and wandersways would have been a.a baying madhouse of neal out

Correct, Neal took us to Wembley in 86 if I remember correctly? I’ve got Dec 1985 in my head as to when he replaced Charlie Wright

I think it was but my memory ain't all that these days.

And wasn’t it Neal who signed McAteer and gave Stubbs his debut, which for many was the start of some of the best years as a fan.

About 6 months then, which is what I was thinking.

Yes, I think so. Neal had an eye for a player, would be a decent scout
