What's mixed about being told to wear a mask when in a shop?

Precisely the same in Scotland.

Obviously don't wear one when in an eatery or a pub. Precisely the same in Scotland.

Perhaps there may be a difference in big towns or cities in both nations with a higher cunt percentage, I don't know. It was also noticeable that a couple of locals i discussed the situation with were no fans of nicola sturgeon, but were more than happy to go along with the guidance.

So, in conclusion, yes, its largely people being twats.

As I'm sure you're aware, the Government have been criticised for mixed messages regarding whether masks should or should not be worn, in which settings / environments etc. with their guidance being published very late in the day. Remember Michael Gove saying on national TV that they shouldn't be compulsory in shops, just a day or so after Boris was suggesting he was going to tighten the rules? Then a couple of days after Gove's comments, they did make it compulsory to wear masks in shops - but not straight away; in a couple of weeks' time...

I think it’s just been taken more seriously up here From my own experiences both sides of the border. I do think krankies messaging has been crystal clear though and very little dubiety. Missus was in a bar Saturday and the council were in doing spot checks of COVID measures etc to ascertain compliance.

we’ve very limited cases up here now and the majority wish to keep it that way and the associated freedoms that come with it. Masks I would say are 95% + Up here with 14-25 years olds not giving a fuck and your general scutters and not rights also not complying.

Interesting that the council have been doing checks. I haven't heard anything about similar in England; just lots of people saying / being told that they wont be enforcing it themselves. Hopefully numbers will stay down north and south of the border and people generally will comply with the requirements. Bloody frustrating for the 95% when they see the 5% that down putting themselves and others at risk.

Pubs and restaurants are on the ball and enforcing it up here. Probably because of said checks.

really needs the police to get involved and just do spot checks in supermarkets public transport etc. hand a load of fines out and it will change peoples behaviour of that im sure.

Fine them all and then they can lodge the necessary appeal backed up by evidence to get it quashed. Simple really

Yep.  And if their appeal is proven to be frivolous then double the fine.  Selfish, self-important cunts.

Another unenforceable law

Unfortunately, yes.

It really shouldn't need to be enforceable though.  It's only because we've got such a high percentage of pricks who just do what they want that it's a problem.

Why is it unenforceable though? Genuine question

We don't enough police to police it.

If a few thousand people can protest and the police can't/won't cope, then if we had 1m saying "no, thanks" to masks, then there arenn't enough police to stop them.

As I said previously, it is a matter for individual conscience.

We're aware of that. We're similarly all aware of what is required now. Wear a mask.

Those not doing, largely won't say they didn't know, just that they can't be arsed, don't agree etc. Badge of honour syndrome.

They'll say, "Why should I wear a mask in the shop if I don't have to wear one in the pub?".

Just wear the fucking mask you petulant child.

Police were out in Preston centre over the weekend, ensuring rules were met. Reporter embedded with them.

Younger patrons admitting on camera they weren't necessarily adhering to the rules completely.

They'll end up getting them closed again, fucking it up for the industry and those legitimately having a night out.

You're right. I just don't get the dismissive attitude. Even if some of the messaging could have been better, we're not experts, nor have access to the information that ministers do.

Guidance and rules are there for a reason, not purely to make life more awkward.

No its not

Weve been told todo it

Whether folk want to or not is irrelevant

However, its fine saying issue fines to all, the docs havent got time to deal with 50 scrotes a day demanding a note to say theyre exempt

So if you don’t have an exemption then you pay the fine. You don’t park in a disabled bay without a blue badge and apply retrospectively. Simple like I say.

Its far from simple

As it stands you can self certify

If challenged you cant even be required to explain why you are exempt

If it was practical to get exemption notes from the docs, id agree with you, but its not

I didn’t realise you could self certify. In which case completely agree and it’s just another farce.

Fellas, perhaps I could suggest a means of members contributing to the fund directly. No masks needed, just pay what you want.

Can a just giving type thing be done, whilst keeping some anonymity for the recipient?

Good idea - but my Mrs won't be best pleased if I'm left with a box of masks - on top of all the boxes of old fanzines and newspaper reports in our cellar!! haha
