When I read this first time, I hadn't started watching it, so assumed you were climaxing over new sexy motor.

I soon realised you weren't.

Such a nice looking car the Diablo. As is the F40.

I wonder how much it cost to fix, plenty of expensive looking panels, bumpers, lights, etc

Did you see the bonnet and lights move about on the Jag? Not the best build quality.

I've not watched this episode yet but as I mentioned on here last week that F40 is my mates neighbours. He went with him to the filming, he said the guy knew there was some element of risk to letting them use it but was shocked at the amount of work needed after they had thrashed it round all day. Bonnet and engine bay re-spray he reckoned. Said he did alright out of it though, well compensated.

Kinnell, at 200mph on a concrete runway, no wonder. 30 year old car too

He’s a friend of a mutual acquaintance of mine and Casino’s who I was talking to today. Can’t remember the exact figures but the loan of the car was around £10k and the fixing of damage £30k.

Replacement like-for-like for the Lamborghini circa £600k.

They aren't, Top Gear even when Ginge and Yank ran the show made money for the beeb.

All well and good but £600k for being a shit driver is an expensive fuck up.

Aye, mate told me he got 10k for using it, which is what I was referring to by "well compensated", seems a hell of a lot for a day's use of a car whatever it is. I believe the F40 isn't the only car he owns neither. My mate lives directly opposite him on the street, his mrs tells the story great of him seeing the garage door open and realising what was under the sheet for the first time after they moved there a couple years ago. Went running over like a little kid apparently.

That was my favourite car as a kid, I just thought it was perfect. Was jealous to see him driving it.

Nah, insurance would cover that. Bet it wasn't cheap of course!

Oh, that’s ok then. High insurance claims won’t affect me!

Highly unlikely they will in this case. Arent these super car jobs more covered by specialist insurance companies. Different league to the peasants.

Had to get BMW specialist insurance for my M3, and still had to have a load of stipulations with it, had to have a tracker and immobiliser fitted, can’t be used for, track use, display. Strictly a road car.

So insurance companies just take it on the chin and lose over half a million pounds? I’d say they will look to recoup the loss by increasing everyone else’s premium. Irrespective of it being a specialist insurer.

The point is you’re not going to insure with such an insurer so it won’t impact you. He’s right in what he’s saying.
