The 2020 USA Presidential election

The eve of the maddest show in the world

Two senior citizens battling it out to become the most powerful person in the world

The most decisive election in years, which no matter the outcome, the whole country is anticipating civil unrest.

Yes folks the loonies are well and truly out of the Asylum

Forget the polls, forget what you think will happen one thing for sure is it’s always unpredictable and I cannot wait

Buckle up Dorothy

Spot on.

Biden making the right noises about engaging with Trump voters. If half of them at least give him a chance, things can be a lot less inflammatory.

We just need Wigan to be gone by xmas and we can all get back to normal.

If he's going to do that properly he needs to listen to concerns about immigration rather than closing people down as racists in the way liberals seem to do.

Trump is that delusional he'd make a good "tics" fan !!

Yes. And I can't really think of a case in UK general elections where the losing side has resorted to trying to undermine the result and therefore deny democracy. However that did happen after Brexit. The parallels are definitely there. There are quite a few people in this country correctly criticising Trump's behaviour today but airbrushing the fact that they were up to the same tricks after June 23, 2016!

The massive difference on Brexit is that the ‘what’ we were voting was never clear. The ongoing discussions for hard/soft/no deal highlight that.
On a lot of the other things you say I am 100% in agreement !!

Biden has been described by people on both sides of the house as a totally decent man. As mentioned is much more central than left wing. The challenge that Liberals face is understanding why Trump engendered such support. He is real twat but millions of people went out and voted for him. To simply dismiss him as a freak totally ignores the cracks he has highlighted and dug into. The challenge for Biden is how to speak to those people and involve them in the healing without alienating the millions who voted for him. I have binge watched a lot of the election and the feeling is he is ideal to do this.
He will bring experts in in the required areas rather than rely on his family ! The future is brighter today.

Does anyone know if Bolty’s ok?

I hope you are right. If you are correct then he is going to have to be comfortable in dealing with issues liberals seem to be squeamish about discussing and thus find it easier to close down as "unacceptable". It's a big culture change that's needed on the left. The disconnect between the liberal establishment and the people who used to vote for them is very big.

I don't agree with you on Brexit in terms of what we were voting for. But you knew I'd say that - and that's been covered a million times on the other thread.

Very noble of you sir

if I fall so far In the world that i need your help I will be certain to ask. Until then I shall carry on 👍🏼

If you are bothered about the Biden back story. He is a career politician starting out quite to the left but gravitating to the centre. There is his speech on links to South Africa which given the time was pretty impressive.
His political career was slowed by 2 events firstly when he basically nicked a speech by Neil Kinnock and claimed it which screwed over his challenge for the democrat nomination. Also his wife and daughter were killed in a car crash (his sons also in car ). He took a back seat for while and considered quitting.
He lost to Obama for nomination but Obama saw his abilities to bring the sides together and took him as the VP.  One of his sons then got and died from cancer (brain I think). Again he took a step back pretty sure that is why he did not stand last time round.
He is not a shrieking leftie.

Balancing the ‘wants’ of his own party especially the thirst for ‘revenge’ from some and the same from Trump supporters will the biggest challenge he faces.
If he can do it we will all be in a better place.
On the other thread you mention I have posted that failing to speak to the concerns of the other side is why Remain lost the referendum. Worrying that your daughter might not be able to enjoy the cultural delights of Paris does not resonate with people who have fuck all money.
Worryingly I am agreeing with you. which might be a good sign.

Cheers. Some tragic events there which would derail many people completely  so shows he has an inherent desire to do his job and further his career which is great to see.

not sure the lying is a desirable trait (sure the usuals will be jumping on this  and lambasting him very soon for lying for balance?) but everyone deserves a chance to make up for past indiscretions and shouldn’t necessarily  be tarnished because of them. I’ve got more skeletons in my closet than Fred wests cellar

We are setting a bad example and precedent for our youngsters, where they think democracy doesn't matter, although some will argue that and It's great that more youngsters are engaging in politics.

I worry about the no-platforming phenomenon. It's all that type of behaviour that has led to people feeling disrenfranchsied and its liberals who are the guilty party.

I included the speech bit as it is true. It detailed his career for a good while.

Like I say he shouldn’t necessarily be cast aside because of an indiscretion. He’s bounced back. good luck to the guy for the period he is in charge

Confession time

Due to going to college in Wigan I reckon I've had more nights out there than in Bolton

Still grifting even now

Its nice that there is discussion on here. I have long said the left were to blame for their own downfall with the hubris that comes from thinking the end of history had come, whilst forgetting millions were being left behind without a voice.

However, the resulting nonsense shutting down all debate, the reliance on following lying demagogues without question has brought just as much pain for those who wanted a voice in the first place. They've been used, in fact we all have. Trump , Farage etc wasn't a reset, it was a lash out and however it came about, it hasn't helped a single one of us and created more division that we have ever seen.

A bit of calm listening would go a long way for everyone.

But reacting just fans the flames.
If anyone does not understand why the VP is not a story they are being deliberately obtuse.

Just answer lies with facts.

But it has to happen because in some eyes there are no facts, or rather facts are if the right person says them.

Calm heads yes, but I'm all for standing up against this nonsense.

Thank you Paul.

4 years of jubilant "leavers" telling "remainers" to shut the fuck up and get over it has resulted in this.

A large number of leavers are also, for some reason, Trump fans (You are an exception it seems, there will be more).

What you then have are people forcing trump and Brexit joyfully into the faces of anyone who utters of breath of disagreement.

So for Trump to lose, those same people - Miami, Royal, Bolty (i don't mind naming names) - need to understand that the shoe is on the other foot  and there will be a backlash. And that backlash will look VERY familiar.

They just have to suck it up. It's nowt personal, no need for straighteners and we're all friends.

But for now, your man lost, roll with the virtual punches for a bit lads.

This seem to have all started from Trump winning and BREXIT happening,  when Obama got in power did thousands hit the streets in London and start attacking Obama Eeffigies? If remain had won do you still think we would be talking/demonstrating about it? People love an outsider,  we have just had 2 of the biggest political outsider’s in recent history winning. Many couldnt take it and took to the streets and social media. If those people weren’t moaning, demonstrating etc and respected the vote etc do you think people like me, @miamiwhite and @Bolty would Be forcing Trump and BREXIT joyfully into people faces?

To whom?

I'd definitely recommend The Trump Show on BBC catch up.  When you see what he got away with, how he's behaved in power, you'll just be thankful Biden has put an end to it.

To coin a phrase, I'll enjoy every delicious moment of his downfall.

I tweeted a Remembrance Sunday post on Twitter.
An ex / rare poster on here replied that he was surprised if posted it.
Because I’m not a Bojo / Trump fan apparently I cannot support remembrance

The fucktard omitted to think about the fact that I’m actually raising money for the Legion because poppy sales will be down. Literally 2 tweets earlier

It’s a great example of this utter nonsense

poppy poilce, another set of pricks
