It's that match v Darlington (5/11/86?). What it would have looked like if everyone who claims to have been there, really was.

Now Jim, when I mentioned "rattle" you immediately thought of "rattler" a colloquial name for a train, and suggested Crewe Alexandra, a place inextricably linked to trains. Well it was a good idea but

👍 Think it's the stand behind one of the goals.

Bloody hell, it was a total flyer... I've only been there once but I remembered how the stands seemed to tower over the houses and shops

They look like seaside houses ... But it is too big for Brighton ... Plymouth is my guess

Not Turfmoor is it?

He said yes

Got removed from their twice before kickoff.

Went back in for a third time.

But in the stand.

God - football was cheap in those days.

Cop on the gate at supposed away section.

"Right lads what river flows through Bolton "

Spurs likely lads standing around, copped the question.

In we go , 20 mins later carnage. No fences , I bail onto the pitch. " get back in there , " eff off , first eviction.  Pay to get in again.

Bolton numbers have increased, it kicks off again , this time we had the numbers. Coppers come in mob handed , this time they drag me over .

Around 15 marched out again .

Match result , think we lost 1-0

Was that in our promotion season 70s??

Remember that - I think eventually the coppers stopped bothering about Spurs fans coming in - like you say - Carnage

Bloody big crowd on as well - no tickets!!

In that same seasons game with Spurs at Burnden, what was the attendance?

I heard over 50k

But think average for that season was only early 20ks

I was at that one & yes, I think 50k or near as damn it.

Neil McNab scored a Worldie for Spurs into the Lever End from the Machester Rd. side. Fully 35 yards out, top corner.

It was disallowed because some Spurs player over to the Burnden Paddock side was a couple of yards forward of him when he hit it ... albeit 30-40 yards left of him.

Them were the rules in those days !

I think we played there twice that season - FA Cup & league - & it was dicey both times.

The league game was near the end of the season & there was a huge crowd on & by the time a lot of Bolton fans got there, they had locked the gates to the away section......it turned out it was full of Spurs fans & the few Bolton in there were given a hard time.

The rest of us had to split up & try & get in anywhere & we finished up having to keep quiet in the opposite end  ( not easy when Whatmore had a good goal disallowed !!)

I remember the Southampton game at Burnden that season.

Southampton were the in form side and we spanked em 3-0, whole town was buzzing.
