Its appeasement, that's all it is, and more people will end up dying in the longer term if you essentially capitulate to agressors. These aren't peace deals in the slightest.

  • We’ve reached a point where folk are so entrenched in their support for trump that they’ll side with Putin if it means not losing face on the socials. Thats where we are now. its ok

  • That Vance is a bigger cunt than Trump

I'm not sure this can be taken at face value, but if it's genuine, it's quite an interesting development.

The eponymous admiral was actually born in Ukraine, although Putin might point out that it was in the Russian Empire. Family of sailors who moved to the pacific coast when he was young.

Doubt he’ll take a loss

He's already lost.

Even if the situation returned to a pre war one, then what had been achieved to Russia's benefit?

The country is bollocksed, and will be for years.

Getting pushed back in an area that looks to be about 10 miles from the border, their "army" doesn't want to be there fighting, clearly. Kharkiv looks to be about 50 miles from Belgorod. Never heard of the place, it's just a dot, but looking on Google Earth, densely populated. There's the problem for me, they can just keep throwing hillbillies from Siberia into combat. Possibly for years.

They could, but sooner or later bereaved families back home may start asking more questions.

Plus, the amount of weaponry being shipped in that is more functional in keeping an attacking force at bay from further afield means that once retaken, the Russians won't find it as easy to go back in.

A defence minister just today made a little comment that was quite telling, in that by taking areas back, Ukraine then is close enough to target major Russian supply lines.

Like joining NATO by proxy.

Be interesting to see if at some point Ukraine decides to go back for Crimea too.

It'd be interesting to see what the response from NATO countries, or more likely the US, would be to that.

Supporting Ukraine in their efforts to restore their pre-February invasion borders is one thing but supporting them in the reclamation of Crimea would be another.

Going off previous comments, it seems that it would be supported. Some hand wringing in the west for not supporting Ukraine earlier, which emboldened Putin to do this.

An opportunity to right the wrongs maybe.

Here's a thought: Stoltenberg to Putin-"fuck off right out of Ukraine and stay away, and we then won't admit Finland and Sweden nor consider Ukrainian membership"

"Don't, and they are all in ASAP".

How long before the West supplies Ukraine with enough missiles powerful enough to blitz Volgograd?

A Ukrainian bombardment might just sway things.

Lets arm them to the teeth, get the Scandinavians to join Nato and lets see the fuckers ball size.

So no air support, seems the Russians are hard of learning

It gets even worse for them.

I think the weapons supply is making a difference. Apparently the Russians hit some stroage depots recently which won't help, but if they can get more of the longer range stuff deployed, then the Russian's ability to hit targets from range decreases.

If they can start hitting Russian supply lines too, then that could be a major game changer.
