Its appeasement, that's all it is, and more people will end up dying in the longer term if you essentially capitulate to agressors. These aren't peace deals in the slightest.

  • We’ve reached a point where folk are so entrenched in their support for trump that they’ll side with Putin if it means not losing face on the socials. Thats where we are now. its ok

All talk.

even Putin isn't that stupid to start chucking stuff into NATO territory is he? - It would certainly ensure a fairly quick end to the war I'd have thought

I’ve no idea about war and stuff but wouldn’t a tank that’s adapted to shoot down aircraft be a pretty juicy target for other types of ordnance?

A standard tank battalion is a sitting duck to air attack, so adding in some anti aircraft capability will at least deter/prevent them being easily picked off. I don't think they will just be trundling around on their own. But then again I know less than fuck all about war, except that it good for absolutely nothing, huh

Finland and Sweden joining NATO would be the ultimate test of his nuclear balls.

Transnistria is the place to watch. It’s a Russian enclave in Moldova yet has seen explosions the last couple of days. Could be a few “parties” responsible but he’s looking for an excuse to widen the conflict now. Albeit on a small scale.

Mates family is Lithuanian and they’ve seen a few bits of news on the internet and it’s about Russia having to go to Moldova to protect them from Ukrainians.

Would put Russian troops much closer to the EU, in terms of actual fighting.

He will once again claim that everyone east of the Dniester is Russian and wants to be part of the Motherland.

A bit of a "watch this space" piece that. Doesn't say much- but because no one seems to know for sure, the outcome is also unknown.

I think it’s a bit of desperation from Putin if he starts relying on tinpot backwaters like Tiraspol to push his agenda.

I was supposed to be going to Transnistria next week

But he’s right I think,

I thought Russia already had a garrison in Transnistria (I'd never heard of the place a fortnight ago)

1500 troops or so in Transnistria.

Encircle them, and starve them out. See how they like it.

If I was Moldovan and looking at what's kicked off next door I'd seriously consider battering them now before the invaders arrive
