Its appeasement, that's all it is, and more people will end up dying in the longer term if you essentially capitulate to agressors. These aren't peace deals in the slightest.

  • We’ve reached a point where folk are so entrenched in their support for trump that they’ll side with Putin if it means not losing face on the socials. Thats where we are now. its ok

  • That Vance is a bigger cunt than Trump

I’m no expert , but that doesn’t look real to me , all the helicopters explode the same ,even the fact the camera was able to close up on the one about to be shot, how would they know which was next ?
might be wrong but don’t think it’s real

Of course it's not real. It's from a computer game. Even my grandma would be able to tell it's fake.

Is there really nobody who can step up and resolve this mess? Surely there must be somebody who can step in and act as peacemaker because ultimately, however much death and destruction is done, it will only be eventually resolved by negotiation. I fully accept that Putin is a complete moron but he’s not stupid and must realise by now that this has gone very pear shaped and a way out must be the best option. Both sides have to be seen to have succeeded and I fully believe there is scope for that but I just think spending so much time, effort and money on continuing the war is totally counter productive in the end.

Good. Glad I agree with your grandma 👍

Ukraine don’t need to be seen to succeed or any other PR bullshit.

300 dead under the theatre in Mariupol, surely a war crime. Horrendous outcome. 🥲

Sheltering for safety, not a military target. That’s not a casualty of war that’s mass murder

You'd like to think it's a war crime.....but he'll never be on trial anyway, so I guess a moot point, sadly.

Aye, he's never leaving Russia again so untouchable. More likely cop for a dose of Novichok anyway.

I was talking with a customer yesterday, and it was a nice day so we're sat in a coffee shop garden, and two fighter jets flew over, very impressive and loud.

Anyway, I said it's a shame that we can't be giving Ukraine some of these top of the range jets, and I said I'd heard it's because they aren't trained to fly them. He said, and I'd not thought about it, but that's probably bollocks, as they would be able to fly them and even if they couldn't, they'd be able to learn very quickly. He reckoned the reason we're not letting them have access to the latest range of jets, is that we don't want them to have access to something that would allow them to try and reverse the situation and send state of the art attack planes over to Moscow and start chucking stuff at the Kremlin. And if a NATO owned jet lobbed a missile into Russia, then all hell could break loose

It's probably bollocks, but does sound half feasible

I reckon it would be a pretty aggressive move to provide them with state of the art aerial weapons. Becomes a more complex situation then.

That’s why Poland isn’t handing over Migs that they can fly, they’d have to take off from Nato land. There’s no chance they go on the offensive.

It was the US that put that one to bed - and probably rightly so. Poland were proposing to supply their Mig-29's to Ukraine, which would then be back-filled by US F-16s so their own air capability wouldn't be diminished. It's a great idea, but fraught with unintended consequences.

Definitely listen to that podcast featuring Justin Bronk that I stuck on a few pages back he explains in detail why it can't be done.

Just the handing over of MiG-29's from Poland to Ukraine would take months to achieve as a lot of the avionics have been upgraded to NATO standard some of which are classified/encrypted and as Ukraine isn't a NATO member they'd all have to be stripped out and retrofitted before they could be given over. Plus all sorts of legal issues about where a plane takes off from before heading into Ukraine that I hadn't realised. Its worth a listen.

Yep. Was well worth a listen.

Reckon our missile supplies are working and seem a reasonable approach.

One of my close mates works for MBDA, he's absolutely loving it at the minute, his commission is going to be huge this year, last weekend he was saying he hope it actually escalates a bit more. It was a weird conversation, but I can see where he's coming from.

We have some goofy corrupt buffoon. Ukraine have a leader.

Do you know which missiles mbda are supplying?

The Nlaw one isn't one of their's and is made in NI.

Not Granddad from Only fools and horses is he?

Doubt he works for MBDA if he's on commission... You sure he doesn't just sell stuff, and MBDA are a customer?

I don't know, as I don't ask and I doubt he'd be allowed to tell me anyway- in the main though, he said orders are coming in from all over the place, it's not just the UK

He does work for MBDA, and has done for a long time. I guess commission wasn't the best word to use, it's an annual bonus that he receives, and that's based on many factors, but the main one, as it should be, is growth, and he's already suggesting this year will be significantly higher than last year for his end of year bonus

In that case, I can guarantee you he recieved his bonus this month and it was not at all affected by the Russian invasion into Ukraine. The terms of the potential bonus were set 12 months ago.

As was shown on here, they were advertising for jobs only recently.

I don't know how missile sales work- but maybe if you flog enough you get extra. Just like cars.
