Some are trying but they cant hold a candle to Bolty's supreme ability to be wrong on almost everything he espouses.

No one else comes close. Everyone is saying it. If there was a Nobel prize for being wrong I’d win it. People come up to me and say what a great job I’m doing at being wrong” etc etc

Yesterday at 13:011 day To understand the following video of Trump needs an explanation as to what Scott Bessent, Trumps mate who he's appointed as the US Treasury Secretary has been doing -The UK, China, Japan, South Korea and others are now selling U.S. Treasuries [US government bonds]. When sellers outnumber buyers, the price of the bonds drops… and the interest rate (the “yield”) shoots up. Higher yields mean it suddenly costs America a lot more to borrow money. So what does Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent do?He starts buying those same long-term bonds himself to prop up the price and keep yields from exploding even higher. Here the government is using its own money (or newly created money) to buy its own debt because foreigners no longer want it. The music is slowing down. For 50 years the system worked like this: Gulf countries agreed to sell oil only in U.S. dollars. That forced every country in the world to keep holding dollars as reserves and buying U.S. Treasuries just so they could buy oil. It was the secret engine that kept demand for American debt alive. That engine is now sputtering.Saudi Arabia just recorded zero oil sales to the United States for the first time ever. Gulf countries are struggling to sell oil at the same scale, and the old “you must use dollars” rule is showing massive cracks. When the world no longer needs as many dollars to buy oil, and when big countries stop buying America’s long-term debt… the whole system that has kept U.S. borrowing cheap for decades starts to break. That’s what we’re watching in real time. The above is taken from some random bloke off twitter but the gist of what he is saying is right, countries are beginning to sell off US bonds they hold, thus in direct competition with new issues of US bonds being put on the market and driving up the interest rate the US will have to pay back on their own bonds when they fall due - so they are buying their own debt which is basically kicking their debt down the road, with no solution for the US to stop doing so as long as country's are 'dumping' their holdings of previous US bonds they have bought and still hold. All this stems from Trumps war with Iran that stopped oil going to China and Japan, which in turn stressed their economies (prices started to shoot up) and to dampen that down they've had to raise their interest rate and fund their government borrowing by selling of US bonds to put pressure on to the US government (Trump) which it clearly has - hence Bessent buying US bonds (which hasn't happened since the sub prime crash about 20 years ago).Anyway the videoMight as well add this one about the 'beef' while I'm here...I don't know if this fake or not but it made me smile...More on the beef...China rejects Argentine beef due to chloramphenicol: investigation and internal consumption crisis - Noticias Ambientales Edited 23 hours ago23 hr by Sluffy
1 hour ago1 hr Update from the Financial Times in respect of Bessent and the US bond marketFinancial Times: “Scott Bessent’s running battle with the bond market is starting to look like his boss’s war in Iran — started by his own hand with a tangled set of objectives, an underestimated opponent and an implausible path to victory. And like the conflict in the Middle East, we are all going to suffer its effects. Three weeks ago, of course, he inserted himself in the market for the Japanese yen, of all things, buying the currency to prop it up in what was painted as a friendly act of solidarity with an ally in need. The link back to Treasury bonds may not be immediately obvious, but bond market insiders are not buying the friends-helping-friends explanation, and instead see it as an effort to stop Japan from fixing its yen problem by selling down its gigantic stash of US debt. So now, no fewer than three times in three weeks, Bessent has given the message to investors to please stop selling his bonds. But they are selling his bonds anyway.” https://ft.com/content/b9e7a620-1018-4004-a3b0-3c85d494d21d?syn-25a6b1a6=1I also see that Trump's strong arm trade negotiations with Canada went well...And just as a reminder...President Trump signing the USMCA (CUSMA) trade deal into law in 2020: “The USMCA is the largest, fairest, most balanced and modern trade agreement ever achieved… there’s never been anything like it.” Today the U.S. has imposed significant tariffs on Canada, with President Trump now calling the CUSMA/USMCA deal “terrible” and “unfair” and saying he would rather not have it.
