We're now hearing from Israel's president, Isaac Herzog.

Speaking about the hospital in Beersheba hit by Iranian strikes, Herzog says: "A baby in intensive care. A mother by their bedside. A doctor rushing between beds. An elderly resident in a nursing home. These were some of the targets of Iran’s missile attacks on Israeli civilians this morning."

He adds that "in moments like these, we are reminded of what’s truly at stake, and the values we are defending."

I was pointing out the other day that Israel are known to put military installations close to civilian population centres to discourage attacks. It doesn't look like it's worked, sadly. 

There must be hundreds of potential targets for Iran to hit. Especially so early on in the conflict - so I'm not having it that this was a target they had no option but to go for. 

Same as Gaza for me. Those poor people recieving treatment, in pain, frightened, vulnerable and surrounded by the people trying to help them. Maybe it's just my sensibilities and this is why I ended up as a nurse rather than a soldier*

The Israeli government I've less sympathy with. They've set the ground rules for what will no doubt and up being another savage conflict. A lot more innocents are going to die before we see an end to this. If we ever really do. Hearing them talk about a lack of humanity from Iran is particularly grim/hypocritical/galling. 

I expect Iran will try to shut down the Strait of Hormuz next. Then the shit really is going to hit the fan. Unless they completely capitulate and beg Trump for a deal? 

* I did actually visit the army recruitment centre when I was about 19. But I don't think someone with long hair and a lip ring in was the kind of recruit they were looking for! 😁 Still, I tried. 

Trump doesn’t know whether to have a shit or a haircut.

Still, he promised world peace so my hopes remain with the ginger menace.

But some of the footage is unbelievable. There's a bit where it shows people trying to access aid. They look like they are about to tear each other apart in desperation. And this is women and children too. 

It's mainly shot on mobile phones by the medics at the hospital. 

Quite apart from my own personal views on things - it's just a remarkable piece of footage, documenting one of the most important and consequential moments of our time. 

I hope people take some time to watch it. Maybe to challenge their own worldview if they're a bit blase about the suffering in Gaza - or if they think the stories are overblown by Hamas. And to see some incredibly brave Palestinians (and people from around the world) doing their absolute best to help the injured and dying. 

I doubt many people will take the time though. And that's really sad.

It’s evidence at least that Hamas don’t control all the information coming out of Gaza. Which is why some have estimated the death toll to be even higher than Hamas say.

That's why it's so interesting. In the absence of a press corps in Gaza - this is as close to reality as we're likely to see.

Iran don't have the means for this to continue in the same pace. They have enough munitions / ballistics to last about 4-6 weeks at the current rate. They can't get more from Russia because well.. Obvs. They can't get more from China because they're saving them up for Taiwan presumably. 

Israel have them on tap from everyone else because CEO's of American & European finance companies.

However, Israel's defensive capabilities are apparently less than what Iran's attacking capabilities are, so whilst Israel will most likely win, there will be heavy, heavy casualties

As long as it continues, the price of oil will continue to increase, especially if the Strait of Hormuz gets affected - oil price being driven up will help them pesky Russians, sadly.

I think even China know it would be daft to be seen helping Iran. We (and I mean the West) are not going to stop now until they get a regime change I suspect.......and look how well that worked with Iraq and Libya
