Covid-19

Slow news day, or end of the world?

”Aggressive” new variant has landed in Moscow. Makes people, even those that have been vaccinated, more poorly than previous types.

Time for Uncle Joe to push the button? Short term pain.

Well, we're taking our daughter's mate round London for her birthday, she and her parents don't care about Covid - just tested negative for the first time so that's two days of positives and now negative, so it looks like birthday trip is on.

Its certainly been a lot less severe this time round.

it's one of them really

legally fine

morally less so (for us at least)

we got mates coming round with 3 kids on saturday

both parents and one of the kids had it recently, but the mum works in a hospital, so she may not want to come anway jusdt in case, so will leave it up to them - they can come if they want

sunday meant to be seeing other family and grandparents - my dad has had it, but mum hasn't - don't want to pass it to either of them, so may give them a swerve

fortunately she's having her proper party with all her mates the week after

in the mean time no gym and minimal contact with anyone till I test negative

I didn't know people where still testing. Thought we just had to crack on with it now?

To be fair I have been in a mat leave bubble for 9 months. Just found out at work that if we live with someone and they have covid we have to isolate too.

I'll be honest I had to go to the supermarket yesterday and did even though I was positive, ran out of milk.

No one else is testing in this house

its one of them now, it's totally up to you how to deal with it

we're still on 100k cases a day or so, and 350 deaths yesterday (which are on the up again, highest since end of jan)

I only tested out of curiousity as the mrs did and came up positive, it doesn't affect me much to stay at home - if I have to go to the shop will go when it's quiet, I'll stick a mask on and be in and out sharpish

but as it's still here and it's still killing people I dont' think it's right to have people round wihtout at least telling them, or go to the gym and mingle mask off breathing all over the place

as for the mrs, she's rough, which is why she tested, but other than feeling a bit shitty she's probably secretly loving being on the sofa watching netflix all day and having me do all the shit that needs doing

Dont blame her. Could do with some time off myself.

@Zico 100k cases a day and you haven’t restarted battlenips?

You’re a disgrace

With added financial pressure most won’t test especially if you don’t get paid to be off

Was having some work done at home today, but one of the lads doing it didn't want to come as he has an 'at risk' other half.

Fair enough, and to be honest, I'm quite surprised at how many folk do seem to be testing themselves.

Unless your employer specifically says otherwise, then you can go to work with it.

That would potentially put the employer in a quandary If others kicked off, but it puts the onus on then if there's no sick pay on offer.

Yep ours stopped paying last month and just told people to be sensible

our place has slowed right down no overtime for the lads which significantly boosted their wage so not a chance they take time off

We had almost half the office staff off with Covid the other week, so in all honesty very little has changed.

Just hoping that each variant is weaker and weaker to the point less than 1% of people get so much as a sniffle.

Thing is varients only adapt to survive to infect more people. We have just been lucky that the omnicron variant that started to dominate was weaker. It doesn't hold that the next one (if there is one) will be so, it could be much worse. That's the issue with a brand new illness and why the idea that it's all totally over isn't really true.

we have to learn to live with it

BattleNips is for times of turmoil

like June-July when there'll be no football

You little tease

Don't read the figures and stop testing.

0 tests = 0 cases

You lot sound like me in December.

The issue is I caught it again at a press night because some selfish arsehole didn't test when it is asked fir everyone working an event. If part of your work is to be round hundreds of people a couple of times a week, I want people to test so I don't keep getting ill.

It's not vanished despite all the fingers crossed wishing it would.

But its now no worse than a cold for most folk mixing with hundreds of people a week..

Keep testing and fucking your plans up for what you would have normally cracked on with....

I get the dilemma for lots of folk.
