Pity this thread has deteriorated into a school dick waving competition. RIP Tony.

Taught me at Thornleigh.

He was nobbing my young, fit, fresh out of uni science teacher as well at one point the jammy bastard! ðŸĪĢ

Aye remember him from Cuthberts didn't get on with him really.

Taught me at Thornleigh

I remember him as a vg player at Horwich. Way after my Thornleigh days.

He was a prolific scorer for Horwich & I think at some point turned out for Bolton reserves as a sort of trial which came to nothing.

Pretty sure he scored for Rossendale Utd in that FA cup match at Gigg Lane but I could be wrong , the mists of time etc.

Just checked , took a while, Tony didn’t score for Rossendale in that FA cup game .It was actually another ex-RMI striker Glyn Barker.
Roy Greaves (2) John Byrom & Chris Duffy for us.

Taught me at Thornleigh too.

Never had any beef with him personally but a lot of my mates weren't fans.

RIP Tony

Top bloke.

Once two footed him doing one of those chase the ball around in a circle thingy, when I was getting run ragged and shagged out

Apologised, he just said, 'I was too slow, good tackle'

My dad worked with him, said he was a really nice bloke, brought the cup into school,  apparently in those days you got time off with pay to travel to away games playing amateur football.. Nice little number.

Bloody hell only just clicked who it was, only knew him as Mr Webber, was my teacher at thornleigh college and my football coach for college. We won a competition with him, in my head I think it was called the Manchester cup or referred to that as that.

An absolute master at man management and getting the best out of you

He was a top top coach, tough and brutally  honest but if you worked hard he took a liking to you he had no time for anyone who didn’t give a 100%. I always liked him

Sad Sad news im genuinely gutted and annoyed it took me so long to realise.

Sleep Well Mr Webber.

I didn't go on to Thornleigh though - I went on to BMC with two others. I was fed up with being hassled about my hair which would've carried on at Thornleigh. I spent most of my college time piping slate 'solid' in The Brooklyn bowling hut.

Thornleigh college had probably a 2:1 girl ratio and a government lottery grant for sports. I was sold

Bolton College didn't give a fuck if you had hair like Neil of The Young Ones and turned up stoned - when you bothered to turn up. So I was sold.

There was supposed to be a bolton Catholic sixth form, they were hoping to have it at cuthberts but the salesian brothers had a tantrum and they just had thornleigh sixth form instead.. shame that I know me and a lot of others from Joeys would have gone to a bolton Catholic sixth form but didn't bother with thornleigh sixth form. The open day they couldn't have made it more obvious they didn't want us there

What's everyone doing for Don Bosco day?
