Energy Prices

My 2 year fixed tariff ends in April so I thought I’d do a price comparison.

Currently pay £220 a month and built up credit. Cheapest now is £560 !!!!!! That’s nearly £7k a year !!!!!! Fucking hell !

Fully insulated house, double glazing, all light bulbs are energy saving, smart radiator thermostats, modern boiler set to 22 degrees etc. Wife works from home but heating off and a fancy super efficient inverter heats the only room she’s in.

This is on top of the NI increases, council tax hikes etc. which are coming. Jesus.

Has anyone else done one recently ?? I hope I’ve done something wrong otherwise that’s no fancy holiday for us this year and we’ll be some of the lucky ones. Some people are going to be fucked.

This countries going to have some serious trouble ahead and how will some cope ??

Is it true that 25% of the energy prices is “green tax” ??

Is it the Russians behind this ??

And this isn’t just a Tory thing - it wouldn’t be much different with any of them in charge.

Does she have a sybian rider which she uses all day whilst I’m at work ?

Yeah, you're right. I might have to bin the cleaner off. That £150 could have helped with her costs.

Sunak apparently considering a big windfall tax on the energy companies

A big Tory tick if he does it

Although, in terms of balance the Conservatives have been resisting it for months saying it won't work whilst Labour have been calling for it since before the new year.

It's a Labour tick this policy, I'm afraid.

Will it stop me paying £170 per month for £100 usage? My credit balance is rising monthly. Currently £323.26.

I honestly don't know. Doubt it. But the money can be used to help with costs for those who need it most I believe.

I’m not that charitable or philanthropic that I want my money to help others without it being me who makes a decision to give or not to give to charitable causes.

I wouldn't say helping those who can't heat their homes in 2022 is being overly charitable, just helping us have a more equitable society, which in the ends benefits us all.

Oh, as you put it like that, here’s my bank account details. Take the lot to help the great unwashed.

Actually, no, I’m still not happy being charged almost double for my usage, even though any excess simply increases my credit balance.

Octopus allow excess credit to be reclaimed and quickly.

So did my previous supplier, Igloo Energy. When I asked they spent two months explaining how a credit balance would be safer for life’s ‘what ifs?’. What they didn’t point out was that the ‘what if?’ was theirs, not mine.

Well, if you're going to wilfully misunderstand the point I was making there's not much point in having a chat about it.

Never had you marked as an 'I'm alright jack' type.

Pinching labour policies, there is just no decent opposition 😂

If someone wants to partake in a philanthropic act with my money they should at least ask first.

The policy of George Osborne, and apparently others before.

Does that therefore make it a tory one?

Or is it just an option at certain times, for whoever is in power?

Don’t you build up a credit with your supplier so that you don’t have a shitload more cash in winter when you use more than you pay for each month?

I think that's the theory but loads of cheap energy providers went bump last winter.

This is who my two year fix is that runs until June 23. I've decided to up my payments now by 50 per month even though I'm still a t 2021 prices to get well in credit for next years inevitable hike hike

Likewise. Been upping payments to them to build up some credit for the forthcoming bump.
