What’s wrong with Hindley? quite affluent area on the whole, one of the upcoming places after the Cold War.

Possibly more

It’s just the cost issue, I know folk call the travel club but we must be the only club who doesn’t utilise it well

Given the potential benefits of 3 points here, I wonder if the club have considered offering some sort of subsidy to help those considering going.

Plenty of room for more.

Only issue when the club have done cheap/free travel all knobheads come out and it’s hard to police

But yes it’s been a gruelling period and very expensive

As mentioned by a few of us over the years, if only bigger followings improved away results!  It seems to fire up the home team, and as well as we played v Sunderland I'm sure the 5k away following fired up our players more than their's.

...but they'll have to be members and therefore easily tracked.

1500 max

fair few away games close together folk will prioritise this one’s shite

Fair enough I think you'll be closer to the mark than me, I honestly expected a big following, but yes the relentless run of fixtures this month will have been a factor.  Maybe around 2k which isn't shabby but I did expect more with the run we're on.

I think it’s more to do with the place than the cash aspect.

Us and a lot of regulars are not going as it’s an awful away day experience.

2K would be commendable, but the southerners will bump it up.

In plus a few .

Early Start - replacement buz service at 06.10

How long ago did alcohol get banned on any coaches (and trains*, I think) travelling to football games because give or take about 10 seconds either way, I’d say it was a similar time the Travel Club coaches became a last rather than a first resort. They became far too sanitized with “grown ups” occupying the front seats.

* I seem to recall every train heading in the general direction of a football match had two or three British Transport Police walking from one end to the other checking for booze. Lads with kids would post their offspring at the end of their carriage as lookouts.

Did travel club for years

It was an affordable option and so long as ding dong got the odd can, ale was allowed

And we arrived round about 12 for a 3pm

Then TR85 upped the game with tables and a toilet

Probably about the time official buses went 'dry' and started arriving 10 minutes before kick off

It ticks the boxes for the olds & anyone taking kids

Folk won’t be arsed about drinking on board so long as they can have a few in the boozer before

I used to do Ribble from Moor Lane!

Used to enjoy going on the travel club in my teens and early twenties.

Arriving early, and time for a relaxed drink and some grub if wanted before kick off.

Never really understood the criticism of it.

1985 after Heysel. It was all coaches, not just footy trips.
