They became far too sanitized with “grown ups” occupying the front seats. * I seem to recall every train heading in the general direction of a football match had two or three British Transport Police walking from one end to the other checking for booze. Lads with kids would post their offspring at the end of their carriage as lookouts. 1985 after Heysel. It was all coaches, not just footy trips. Served it’s purpose when we were young and cash was tight.

Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted February 22, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted February 22, 2022 I enjoyed many trips on the travel club. Spending ages on the services was my main bugbear. Stopping at Keele en route to Plymouth for 45 mins really annoyed me
Moderators Zico Posted February 22, 2022 Moderators Share Posted February 22, 2022 Only ever used the travel club once, PNE away on NYD at 12pm, we knew we'd be hungover and no one wanted to drive We missed the coach going due to sleeping in

Morley Charles Afolayan That would be my team. Dempsey has to come in to add more legs and depth into midfield but I wouldn’t drop MJ for this one. That leaves one of Afolayan or Bod to miss out - depends how much we think we’ll be going long. I think Bod looked like a player that hasn’t played much and then played 3 games in a week last night, and I just can’t see how having Afolayan on the bench is ever the right thing to do - so I’d start with him and Charles up top. Baka can count himself harshly treated if he doesn’t start (and Sadlier) but so is the strength of the squad. There are games in a week or 2 where I’d bring them 2 in from the start. Mantra
Had a feeling we were going to lose to Burton in my waters and it was so. My waters tell me we're winning this 100%.

How great is it to be talking about squad depth rather than xyz will have to go in because we’ve no other option

Site Supporter superjohnmcginlay Posted February 23, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted February 23, 2022 I did the travel club for Oxford for ease with the lad, there were a lot of younger lads on, much to my surprise we hit the 61 and the sound of strongbow cans opening seemed to happen all in one go. They were all on it, all the way down. Felt quite left out with my bottle of Fanta twist. I’m driving down for MK and staying at the hotel. Otherwise would’ve considered the travel club again, certainly was a better experience than Id anticipated but it’s always better when you won! However, one evening game away at Birmingham, we got back to Bolton and I asked for a lift back to be told they were going somewhere else. I had to ring my dad to come over from Stockport to get me - needless to say he wasn’t happy.
