Our turnaround has been nothing short of incredible since Football Ventures decided not to renew Keith Hill's contract and took a chance on Evatt. If we don't go up this season, somebody with very deep pockets will be in for him.

Surely if we do go up the same applies as he'd be even more in demand?  If we either fail to get in the play offs or lose in them wouldn't higher placed clubs be less likely to take a punt on him?

However, in those first 15 matches, let's call them 'the Crellin days' he was very fortunate there were no fans in or he'd have been lambasted

Or would he have realised quicker we’d be better with any one of us in goal?

I am not sure he would last at the top. The transition and time taken to implement is something you don’t get there. Which is a shame as he could probably build something great with money

Hes pretty much had instant success tbf

Hes been in management 4 seasons and hes been promoted in 2 of em.

I do question some of the decisions but overall Evatt, with the backing of the Board, has exceeded all my (limited) expectations. That said my expectations have gone up a fair bit from where we were back then on the brink of disaster. I mean look at us now - good looking team playing some great football at times and in with a strong chance of staying in the playoff places although we do have to keep an eye on the Posh and Barnsley, who could knock us out of the top 6 if they both win their games in hand - but we've got the points on the board and can use the time off to get the new look squad to gel for a late season push. Exciting times to be a Wanderers fan.

Someone said earlier in the Charlton thread that Shoretire did the right thing passing to Charles (when he hit the bar), Dapo would’ve probably dribbled it on his own.

Thought that was bang on, and for all the praise we can give Evatt for improving the players he’s had. He also deserves a lot of credit (with Markham) for identifying the right players. Our transfer strategy is the best it’s been in my lifetime. Seems like most of them are hits and very few misses.

Im sure in a couple of years someone will be saying “remember when peoples heads fell off when we sold Dapo”, that’s no disrespect to him but he was a square peg in a round hole this year and we’ve done very well to get a decent fee for him, replace him with cost effective options who actually address the weaknesses in our squad.

Cant wait to see how the end of this season plays out

Automatic?

Probably need to win 13 to be in the reckoning?

Think all will be clear after we've played Ipswich and Sheff Weds in March

Could do with not losing to Posh and Wycombe in our next two aways

tbh. I think one of us might have gone on & replaced him hoping no-one noticed until they realised we'd started looking better.

Pompey away should be added to this small list.

Was more about beating the teams above us to see if we can catch them, if we don't there's no chance

Will have to beat Pompey regardless, as well as pretty much everyone else, as there's little chance right now anyway

I still think our destiny is an away second leg play-off semi against one of Plymouth, Sheff Weds, Derby or Ipswich and I have my doubts over whether we could get past that, but it's going to be bloody exciting getting up to that point and having a go at it.

I so want it to be Ipswich. We have a play-off semi-final score to settle. I know it was a while ago but fuck it.

This is it for me, a few weeks ago I dreaded the thought of the play-offs as felt collectively we were weak and would struggle with potentially 3 big high pressure games.

Thankfully so did IE and seems to have addressed it. So is a tall ask to go up automatically but if we don't, I just want us to be resilient, nasty and hard to beat for the rest of the season.

If so, I will go into the play-offs in a far better frame of mind than I would have been otherwise!!

I was talking to Sharon on fixture release day, she was saying the amount of time Evatt/Markham spend on analysing players before submitting bids for them is incredible. No knee jerk reactions

They'll change the away goal rule and appoint a bent ref

From first whistle to last, “Barry Knight, you’re a wanker!”

Or, in the style of “Bruce Ricoh & Colin Todd, Bruce & Colin”

”Mike Riley and Barry Knight; both - bent bastards!”
