Burndens Bogs Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I’m sure the Queen herself would want Sport to continue this weekend. Lets crack on & let each venue show it’s own mark of respect. What better way of unifying the nation? Quote

Fwiw, and tbh, i dont have a horse in this race, i think they should be off Im damn sure fixture congestion shouldnt be coming into it Hmmm virtue signalling. FWIW I do not think it is but a lot of people who accuse others of virtue signalling over other issues are close on this one. For me the West Ham game has set a precedent for how we can show respect but get in with life. Mourning is not about sitting at home in the dark. When I have had deaths in the family the normality of going the game has helped. Quote
Marc505 Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Public mourning guidance as just been released on gov.uk, no obligation to cancel events. Quote

I’d be happy either way. But it’d cause a bit of a stink if they blocked all attempts to claim refunds. Quote
Zico Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Fuck all reason to cancel It's sad, but it's not a shock The country will come to a stand still and pay their respects when she's buried Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I’d be very surprised if clubs stuck their neck out and played, personally. And yet rugby league seems to be cracking on so you never know! Quote

Dr. Feelgood Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I agree that fancelling seems unnecessary. I understand the national mourning thing but cancelling allsorts, where instead respects could have been shown, seems counter productive and also affects businesses and incomes. Still, it is what it is. Not like it happens every year. Unless Meggsie & her Village Idiot husband pop over to Paris for a spin. Quote

Only people to benefit from cancellation would be publicans before the police have to deal with aftermath of loads of pissed up re enactments of Cabaliers and Roundheads Quote
Spider Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 They’ve planned everything to the most minute detail Shy are large scale sporting events not part of that? Mentle Quote

tomski Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Poor do for those who have paid out to go in my opinion. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Not unexpected as per my previous posts, but massive sympathies for those who have already booked trains and hotels. Given it was their decision en masse rather than leaving to the individual clubs, let's hope the Premier League and EFL have got a pot set aside for refunding folk. Won't hold my breath though. Quote
Biggish Dave Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I'm not going to any more aways this season. Been messed about now at all 3 i've have/will have been to and i'm sick of it. Mgiht just make an exception for Accrington as that's nearer than a home game but the rest can do one Quote
DazBob Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Gutted for those who have forked out for trains, hotels, etc. Quote
