every time me or my other half have needed to see our gp, we fill in the form online describing symptons, and every time get seen the same day

maybe not at the alloted time, but within 30 minutes of it

email for a repeat prescription, it's ready in 2 or 3 days

know a GP

she says her biggest issue is most folk don't come to see her till it's "got really bad"" or it's "too late"

they don't leave it because they don't think they'll get seen straight away, but that they leave it till they get "really bad" with whatever they are suffering from, because they just dismiss it as being an issue

on the other hand

good mate of mine

went to 2 gps complaining of this "wart" growing on his nose and got told it was nothing to worry about and just one of them things

went private and found out it was cancerous, ended up with a skin graft and all that to get it sorted

in my experience getting seen isn't a problem, but getting the treatment you need is

Yeah, I get that. My other half in the last few years started getting painful roscea. She was seen a lot by the GP in London but when we came here and in the warm weather it flares up was she sent to the skin specialist at the local clinic who gave her a completely different course of treatment and its massively helped.

No,  I'm not surprised that some folk convicted of violence have a previous record for it.

You seem to be somewhat angry over that.

Why?

There are some parallels with football violence- the game represented the opportunity for those so inclined to revel in the camaraderie, and get a buzz from it.

Although not all, many of those people have/had a similar history.

The violence was clearly mindless thuggery- again, I don't get your clear ire.

No one would say it wasn't.

Whatever the cause of the riots were, they were still riots. Nothing difficult to grasp there.

I am not angry just bemused by the logic or lack of it with your posts. I see you have acknowledged you could word things better in another post today.

Strange that you present an horrific murder as an ‘opportunity’ for people to riot.

Strange that I post a link to the story with no comment and you decide I am angry because I questioned your logic in your comment

Strange that you have referred to an ‘event’ and when asked which event you mean you avoid the question

So I am not angry just confused by your logic in your answers and the points you just avoid.

On GPs I was called in to see mine yesterday, as I had just passed my 60th assumed it was because of that. I rang them and checked that as I had some blood tests recently with follow ups due in November, do I need to turn up and bring a pot of piss with me.

Was told yes this was separate. Turned up, nurse checked my record and said I had been called in because they do that for everyone on an ongoing course if they have a birthday. So there was no need to be there. Just totally inefficient and a waste of everyone’s time. I left my pot of piss for her to dispose of.

My Practice is usually fine , they have ‘emergency’ appointments daily and ‘other’ appointments that are usually a couple of weeks in advance.

Easy. Scroll up three posts from this one of yours. It is self explanatory.

I can ring my GP at 08:00 and get an appointment for the afternoon, as long as I am willing to see any of the doctor's there and not a particular one, or I can ring after 2:00pm and get an appointment next morning, never had a problem with appointments

Given the number of people you have on ignore, it could be 20 posts he'll need to scroll past.

It was just daft that the system that they have called me in automatically when I am due to go back in November. The woman tried to say it was because I had not booked that appointment yet, but can only book 6 weeks in advance.  And when I checked beforehand was told I needed to go in. It is only a small issue but one that must crop up on a regular basis.

To be fair the private surgeon may have said it could be cancerous and we will remove it. They do love a bit of just in case surgery in the private sector.

I had similar a couple years ago.

We have to renew our construction safety qualifications every few years which involves a 3 day refresher and exam. They always bring up skin cancer and show you pictures to frighten you into listening.

I had a patch on my forearm which started to look like one of these piccies and it started weeping so got an appointment with the surgery's nurse... she used what looked like a mobile phone camera with an attachment, send it off to the hospital and they confirmed it as an early stage cancer. Not wart like but under the skin.

They gave me various creams, one to kill the cells and another to repair the damage that I kept in the fridge.

All cleared up now mainly because it was caught early... and I never once actually saw a GP or Consultant

My exes partner has just be diagnosed with throat cancer. Had a lump for a month and didnt get it checked out because he was busy and doesnt ever go to the Dr's. Id rather get the news as early as possible to be honest, no one likes going but at soon as I got to 45 thought id best do regular checkups.

I know a few lads who have had that... they make a Ned Kelly mask and blast the area with radiation daily for few weeks... seems to work, a couple of them had it 30 years ago and they're still here.

Agree about catching it early, I always remind my wife when she muses that my flying hobby might be dangerous that I have to have a medical and ecg every year...  and it caught a treatable kidney condition long ago

Turns out my GP Practice was in special measures for some reason and the management team have been kicked out.

Just got a message from the people who are taking temporary control .

I'll let him know as hes obviously shitting his pants at the moment. Can't have his biopsy as his blood pressure is way too high apparently, so hes on medication for that as well.

2 lads who I worked with in 1988 or so, Chris had a big lump on his neck and I remember telling him you should have that looked at, Phil working in estimating went through the same and wore a baseball cap as he hair went thin. Kevin got throat cancer about 10 years ago, I'm still working with him, we had professional difference of opinion only this week... we're all still pals.

Wife's brother who has lots of health issues was treated recently and is currently recovering from the treatment, I don't believe it's an easy ride but you don't have any alternatives but to get on with it.

Wish him well, I believe it can be beaten

Same number of doctors for the last couple of years (still more than when appointment system was introduced), but also with a pharmacist etc.

There may be the same number of doctors but that doesnt mean the same number of appointments

Having had an interest in this subject, its very possible its the system rather than the individual practice

If the practice gets, say, 100 for getting you in, theyre going to do it

Given the Practice has just today been taken over after being in special measures I am happy to blame them 😀
