Thought we were too accommodating.Not saying we should have tried to kick them off the park , but at least a foot in now & again would have shown more intent.Having said that the ref would have punished us disproportionately I’m sure. Baxter in goal would have reduced the score line imo but no amount of great goalkeeping can compensate for our static defending .Strangely enough I think only Williams came out with any defensive credit , although he must have been relieved to see Saka going off .We need to stop making the same mistakes regardless of the opposition.Crawley is far more important than last night a clean sheet would be progress !

Mattete lost the ball three times around our penalty area yesterday , last week he was the best of a bad bunch , probably why he’s on loan to us .Inconsistent. Santos’s body language was all wrong yesterday , he barely celebrated our opening goal & was sluggish & indecisive. Wrong reaction to losing the captaincy. Still our best defender though just needs to sort his head out . If playing against Arsenal doesn’t bring back his focus don’t really know what will.

Well it was only the tinpot cup & although we were pretty shite first half I thought that we played pretty well second half apart from their only shot (diabolical defending) of that second half. Small steps & all that , don’t see Collins & McAtee as the two up front mix & match could be the solution with Victor or A N other providing some arial/physical presence. Dempsey mom.

Would be an upgrade on Vic , an actual target man rather than someone who should be but who is unable to trap a bag of cement.

It was certainly a shitshow yesterday , hard to find any positives apart from Johnstones performance. Like others after the Wrexham game I thought Evatt would pick a midfield three with one of the previous front three dropping to the bench as it is clear even at this stage that Collins & Mcatee are too similar & operating in each others space. Victor on his own up front is not an option & if we are going to go more direct we need someone who can actually hold the ball up ! At best it looks like an early WIP , at worst it looks like a tactical miscalculation. Santos is a shadow of his former self , not sure his head is in the right place.

RIP Roy , fantastic servant of the club (575 apps) only Hoppy with three more appearances betters Roy. Always first name on the teamsheet , absolute 100% player. No tippy tappy between Santos & Toal yesterday . Santos launching seemed a bit futile as neither Charles/Collins seem suited to retaining possession with CB’s up their arses rarther than playing off the shoulder of defenders, maybe a one off to suit the opponents of the day. McAtee looks a player !

He got us out of league one, kept us in the Championship against the odds & only really failed when the ship was sinking financially. Yes he was a little direct & predictable, but I wish we could look forward to our centre-halves plundering fifteen goals between them this coming season. He deserves a bit of respect .

There was a lot of disgruntled murmuring before the game with Curcic being sold. Although we only drew that game we could all see immediately the impact of the Danes & the balance of that team , on what was day one. Gloom & doom lifted immediately. Actually a pivotal game in our history,in which losing would have set the dogs after Todd who was being lambasted for selling Curcic. Good job he pulled out Frandson & Johansen out of nowhere.
