Talking of Rochdale, they have a young striker who looks capable of playing at a higher level - Le Fondre. He's quite small and skillful so you'd expect him to struggle a bit at that carthorse standard but he scored about 17 league goals last season in about 25 starts. Got 10 or so this season I think. He's 21/22 and would be cheap as chips methinks. Anyone else seen him play? Think Leicester nearly signed him in the summer...

I'm pretty sure that if Allardyce's achievements had have been in the mid 90's then he would have got the Arsenal job too. Totally different time period, unfair to compare. Rioch did a fantastic job for us but Allardyce transformed everything about the club. Under Rioch we were estatic to get in the Prem, under Allardyce the Prem became the norm (how good is that when you consider our recent past) and Europe became a reality. Think about how likely it is that we will achieve a European spot, especially through the league, again and then reassess who was our best manager.
