HI Ani, having lived in France the french take this far more seriously than we do. Racist chanting , gestures etc under French law can set you back 3 years in jail and/or a large fine. Lets forget all the stuff written above, if you go to a foreign country, you must be aware and respect their laws, the small minority of Chelsea lads were dumb, but it could cost them dear. I suspect this will run and run as it seems the French criminal system is now looking at this.

It is an emotive subject Bolty. Has it been overblown? possibly. Do the media over here love any anti-english fan abroad actions? They sure do. But I can't help look at this and wonder when it will end. The fact that it can still happen (and put this into perspective of the number of games that english fans watch abroad, and then the number of incidents that happen is quite low, especially compared to other countries supporters), still irritates me.

After waiting to see the full extent of this, and seeing both sides, i come to the conclusion that some of you are in self denial. It's pretty clear that on a public transport system, where the guy trying to get on the train is just trying to board the train, is first not being allowed to (when there is plenty of room), and secondly after a couple of attempts, the final clip is the racist chant. If you think NL didn't know the financial measures we are are currently, you are sadly deluding yourself. Players who won't sign contracts at the end of the season, should be the ones to get rid now and receive any money we can for them. It was very obvious from the interview in the BEN, it wasn't frustration with not being backed, but actually getting clubs to part with players. If he "walks away" it will be for a club in the premiership, something that would always be a risk to us anyway. It comforts me that any player he brings in, it is HIM that makes the decision, he won't just bring in bodies.

Bet he signs a new contract if it s semi bad injury (rather than ligaments or owt worse), if it puts him out fr a month or so
