  1. You don't get paid for nearly two months ... You are quite within your rights to down tools . If my employer hadn't paid me for 2 months , I would withdraw my labour . So yes I support them , the word strike is very emotive .
  2. Nolan versus derby county . Volley over his shoulder , great technique . Bobic hatrick versus Ipswich, on a sunny day was surreal . " in Germany after scoring 3 goals we go home, here you go home with the ball " I loved the Les Ferdinand goal against Man Utd , for a few mins the stadium was in mayhem and rocking. So many to choose from . We had some great prem goals. The peacocks toe bunger against arsenal was pretty special as was Anelka's a few years later . If I had one vote...jay jay against West ham
  3. My options are Nottingham Forest .... decent atmosphere, but I might not like it as it would be championship footie and too painful to watch. Notts County .... They are in the same position as us. Winding up orders and dodgy owner ( allegedly ) . He put a pic of his penis on Twitter and then said he was selling the club ....The two incidents were unrelated . Arnold Town. Local club, standard of footie isn't good and I'm convinced the out of town ground is colder than the unibol . Mansfield Town . Short drive down the A60, easy parking , nice kit , play good football , ground only has 3 stands , one side is just massive advertising hoardings. Mansfield is probably fave option . Would I watch a AFC BWFC 2019? It would hurt too much . I would probably pick selected matches and depends what stadium we play IN. I'm depressed now !!! .
  4. Just open the big gates and let us walk in . Most people have tickets by now .We still won't sell out . The big gates are rusty and falling to bits as it is, have a look at the state. Of some Sorted
  5. Thank you howard. Thanks for your consortium for saving us back in March 😀. Thanks for your excellent and informative posts. I am genuinely sorry your team hasn't took over. I feel the post Anderson , Bassini years are going to be more of the same , there is no feel good factor in this takeover. With regards to your takeover I had concerns about Bahrain involvement due to poor human rights in the country. That said you were open about it and no one picked you up on it, as everyone was blinded by the money . As for Bassini , who knows who is behind him , is our club safe in the hands of a man banned from football for 3 years for " misconduct and dishonesty over financial dealings with Watford " . Cheers Howard , it's been a pleasure
  6. Missed Tranmere and Watford ( on holiday in France and spain). Did all the others including Cardiff. PNE was fave game. Those two late goals meant it was a party atmosphere on the terraces know I g the game was won. Always hated Wembley, poor location , awful for getting away . New Wembley so overrated , as they never ever fixed transport links etc. Sight lines still crap. I have told myself I am never going to step foot in the stadium again after the stoke debacle. Oh and holdsworth, do one , that miss was pathetic and you conned the club in the last takeover
  7. That last paragraph is excellent. Touches the heart of every Wanderers supporter. . Sad, poignant but brilliant +1
  8. That was a fabulous game . 6 months later I moved to Nottingham and always had a soft spot for the Stags. I remember all the wanderers fans winding there way home via the road to chesterfield and all the locals in Pleasley sat outside outside the front doors of their terraced houses watching us . Quite surreal. Mansfield versus chesterfield , now that's a rivalry . No love lost between those two. In fact any Notts versus Derbyshire game is edgy . I remember going to chesterfield after qualifying for the sherpa van trophy and their fans chucking lumps of concrete across the paddock barriers . I've seen the clip on you tube on here... Anyway happy day at field mill when we won that day
  9. If mansfield and lincoln come up from div 2 its two local away games for me at old school football grounds . I quite like Mansfield Town , they have an Ian Greaves stand and Neil whatmore used to find the back of the net regularly for them . Ticket allocation might be fairly small though . I remember playing Mansfield Town in the late 80s , I think they went down to 9 men . Jeff Chandler may have been in his second spell with us and was involved in getting their players sent off . The locals really got behind the stags and Chandler was the pantomime villain. Happy days
  10. Lennon is available !!! That was not a serious suggestion !!! Just give David Lee a chance . If it doesn't work out he can go back to the youth management . David's team play open expansive football , something that I've not seen for many years watching the wanderers..maybe the last time was the jay jay, youri, Ivan years Surely we deserve some decent footie, it must be our turn again soon
  11. Good shout . I'd started wearing drainpipe Lee jeans in about 77 . Most of my mates were still in flares . The punk influence in fashion and music was most welcome after all the disco years. Going a bit beyond 78 and terrace songs I always enjoyed a wander wander wander wanderers..wanderers ..we're wanderers to boy George and culture clubs Karma Chameleon. I seem to recall it being quite popular... I think it may have morphed into wanderers wanderers wanderers ..wanderers wanderers.. maybe the tune and rhythm was a little too subtle for the Burnden paddock!!!
  12. The official town hall reception had the steps fenced off, that must be after the match. I ran on the pitch at full time against fulham, it was fabulous . I'd been on the pitch at ewood when the whole of the Darwen end scrambled over the walls at full time . Only ever been on the pitch twice since . PNE promotion , strolled on after all the commotion just to say I'd been on the burnden pitch . I remember PNE fans setting fires to all the ticker tape on the embankment . Last season versus forest because some of the old 'uns near me went on . Martin Parr did a great pic behind the lever end. Supporters walking down towards the Burnden paddock with the lever end on one side and the terraced houses on the other side. The Yates wine lodge is a cracking social documentary pic .
  13. That was at a lower level and I never went to a match back in the day believing we would lose . Mark Came was a decent centre half until he broke his leg . At least those teams could sting a few passes together . Anyway I think we both agree we are awful now !
  14. I've read posts on this thread were people think we played OK. OK .... we were awful ! No creativity, movement or style . The standard of our football wasn't even league 1. The Baggies were just strolling through the game , easiest 3 points for them all season. It is just depressing watching us, actually it is embarrassing . Worst Bolton team in over 50 years of watching us. I've seen some poor Bolton teams over the years , but I can never remember us being this poor . Burton away was a low point last season, I think we are worse than that now.
  15. I have remembered the teachers name.... Mr Woods , centre half and Art teacher
  16. I was there . You could walk fro end to end at bury . We stood at the opposite end to the cemetery end and greavo banged a couple of his hatrick in our net . It was a quick hatrck, scoring his first just b4 half time I think. The teacher from turton was our Art teacher . He played centre half marking Roy Greaves. He wasn't at Turton long , he married another art teacher there . Cannot remember his name though. I remember him covering for an absent music teacher , he brought his guitar into lesson and sang a few songs to us ... best music lesson ever , all we previously did was listen to Mozart on a record player ...seriously that's all we ever did in music .
  17. 80s were awful. Anybody remember Doncaster Rovers away at the old belle vue stadium. It was a festive away game . The away end had been redesigned. There was a cage bolted onto a low gradient terrace , situated right behind the goal . So you watched the game looking though the cage bars and through the nets of the goal . The view was awful . The rest of the terrace was empty . You could not stand on it . You were penned in this cage. Doncaster put three past us including a worldie volley past felgate ( I think it was him ) . I clapped the volley . Dire times . Massive police presence too if I recall and it was rammed in that cage . Google it . You will not believe how awful that cage thing was
  18. The average age of the Leeds United bench on Friday was 19 ...according to sky . 19 !!!!!! Just saying like
  19. Can we close this thread , all that's been said has been said . Latest winding up petition is HMRC . You don't mess them about . They can shut us down , they won't take any rubbish from ken !
  20. Ken has not acted professionally . What he's done is immoral, unethical and tarnishes the name BWFC . To say FGR are gullible is incorrect . They expect professional conduct from BWFC. They have had none . If you see the full interview the FGR chairman speaks and behaves impeccably
  21. I like reading this thread , but at the end of the day all I care about in the football world is BWFC. Hope tonight is a boring draw , I am tired of all the hype about this game. I would love spurs to win the prem . On a separate note anyone noticed how Arsenal have struggled in defencec since Rob Holding got injured . He was be coming a regular and putting in good displays
  22. He was magnificent . The first game I ever saw him play , I could not believe how skilfull he was. He didn't need pace to beat his defender , just nifty footwork and the drop of a shoulder. He was doing step overs before anyone gave "them a name" . How good were we with Peter and Willie Morgan on opposite flanks RIP
  23. Remember going to Blackpool ( maybe day after boxing day ) in the mid 70s . Went on the train from trinity street . Just turned up at the station and bought a ticket . Booking hall was rammed with wanderers, all bouncing up and down. Wooden floorboards wobbling . There was a wanderer dressed in a furry gorilla suit with a scarf tied around neck. The whole station wa singing "gorilla gorilla gorilla " . Sure I saw him on the segregated Kop. We stood in the little paddock that ran the whole length of the pitch . Wanderers fans in all parts of stadium . Great day out . Was a student at uni at the time . Remember blagging our way in kids entrance . Blackpool was u16 . We always won. Sheff Utd away , we scored 5 was 27th Dec I think .
  24. The forest fans I know are all OK. The city ground always has a decent atmosphere . Lots of them congratulated me when we beat them 3 - 2 to stay up in May. Derby and Notts are ok too. No need to hate any of them . The East Midlands is a friendly part of the country
  25. I think the guy is ok. The blemish on his career was the doctor issue at Chelsea, but no-one knows what really happened there . I remember Parky saying when Bradford won at Stamford bridge he went into the Bradford dressing room and shook the hand and congratulated every Bradford player. Respect for that. He'd sort this shambles out here for sure .
