  1. Is this the building that had a swastika mosaic in the tiled floor? Caused a bit of controversy.
  2. Some say 13th, others 18th September
  3. I know. I thought Solihull was a nice area too.
  4. It's a discussion for another day but the health system here is semi-private. If you have any conditions that require a little more monitoring e.g MRIs you pay for them. Most GP appointments you pay for. It's possible to get free but few GPs offer and a long waiting list. Couples earning more than £100k pa pay a surcharge on their tax bill to encourage private health take up. It's a rich country it can afford universal health care IMO. Pretty sure the French pension burden on the public purse is higher than in the UK btw. So they're kicking the can down the road too.
  5. Did see a bit of footage online from the U21 European success under Carsley. There was a player in the middle who looked superb and I had no idea who it was, it was Gomes. Looked really comfortable receiving the ball from the defender, evading the press. First question I'd ask is why he's at Lille though and not one of the giants.
  6. I know your son lives in Oz so I don't know if you're basing your thinking on here. Compulsory superannuation (private pensions) have been in force here for nearly 30 years although the scheme been in place over 40 years. Compulsory contributions by employer to a scheme, initially I think it was 3% employer 3% employee but now it's 11.5% employer, soon to be 12%. All jobs, temporary permanent contracting etc. People on modest incomes for 40 years have easily acquired 7 figure pots. But the state pension here is means tested. Result is the "millstone" of pensions on the country is much less. When combined with the astronomical rises in property prices, boomers are usually minted.
  7. I was watching the match and thought Gay Meadow is looking smart these days. Then had a lightbulb, it's not Gay Meadow is it.
  8. The damage done to the water industry will take more than 10 years to rectify.
  9. Agreed. Certainly the first 11 anyway. Sven was hampered by club rivalries. Man Utd and Arsenal clearly fucking hated each other back then and he never really got on top of that. Plus there's Chelsea and the Scousers (Terry and Gerrard axis). You have to conquer the rivalries otherwise you're fucked at international level. Aragones and then Del Bosque did it with Spain and the big two and won 3 tournaments in a row.
  10. Didn't know this about Sven..
  11. Someone has to do the Benny Hill music to that
  12. Not sure if mentioned already but I DO NOT like the new camera position at Portman Rd.
  13. Have Foden so just checked my team. 1st sub is Kilman and 12 points. Thank you very much.
  14. 14 appearances for Burnley, 3 for us https://www.premierleague.com/players/4281/Marvin-Sordell/overview
  15. From memory one tag was quite expensive but 4 weren't so we got 4 Air tags. One resides round the neck of our cat (only as backup, they're not allowed to roam here as they're little murdering bastards). One in the car (in case stolen) and the other two on keys. Actually comes in handy when I've mislaid my fucking keys, again.

I wonder if he shouted "order" when someone asked for a piss stop.

  18. Took me a bit to find, whatever happened to Nigel Sheppard's site... https://bicky.co.uk/season.php?season=1986-1987 Doncaster
  19. Redfern scored against us at Burnden in our Div 3 relegation season of 87. Doncaster was it? Virtually sealed our place in the playoffs to decide if relegated or not. Celebrated as though he'd scored the winner in the WC. Thought he was a right twat even as a fresh faced 13 yo.

  22. Am I remembering correctly, didnt we use to sing Burn your bungalow down, Taff at Burnden in the 80s? In Welsh, then English when they realised the Welsh could hear.
  23. Think that Easter Sat game ended the 150 year run of not winning in London?
  24. Worzel Gummidge needs Aunt Sally again.
