Most GP appointments you pay for. It's possible to get free but few GPs offer and a long waiting list. Couples earning more than £100k pa pay a surcharge on their tax bill to encourage private health take up. It's a rich country it can afford universal health care IMO. Pretty sure the French pension burden on the public purse is higher than in the UK btw. So they're kicking the can down the road too.

Plus there's Chelsea and the Scousers (Terry and Gerrard axis). You have to conquer the rivalries otherwise you're fucked at international level.
