Was going to say, sundays game was a load of nothingness for them

Win that and theyre nudging us

But

It does feel like you take their red hot run out of it and theyve been a bit average

Barnsley fans complaining about their allocation and some saying we should only be given the same(which we are), didn't they announce allocations first and we reciprocated

It was said on here that we wanted maximum home numbers

Ive no idea tbh

It was said both Sheff and Barnsley would be capped

Was that on South Yorkshire police advice

All the play off games have been that was post-Covid so always likely. SYP only involvement appears to be with the date change.

Is Barnsley's ropey form more down to them not really having much to play for in the past few weeks?

maybe

though in last 10, they've scored 5 twice and 4 once, so they are playing for something

they had a great run when they needed it though, smashing 4 past weds and derby and 3 past plymouth and a few other games were scoring 3

so they are more than capable

the main point of looking at form though was to point out that Weds aren't in bad form but more than once recently seen folk saying they are, whereas Barnsley aren't in form (according to that table) but there's nothing of their recent run to get too excited about in terms of us coming across them at a good time

and even that makes little/no sense.

Looks like Peterborough are restricting Sheffields allocation to accommodate more home fans, they’ve been allocated 2300

Mrs got offered 2 corporate tickets from her work  for the home leg and asked if I wanted to go. Don’t normally join the prawn sandwich brigade as like sitting in my seat with my mates but will be making an exception for this.

Mental reading some of the comments on Barnsley forums this morning

We all know the dirty game Bolton will bring to the pitch. We need to play the same game off the pitch atleast. No more than 2k.

Quote

Nice.. I'd give them 2k at top and section lower of the North with all that netting.. **** em. We would have sold 5k at Bolton away.

Quote

I've no problem giving teams the full north stand in normal league games. For a play off game it's stupid. I've no doubt we'll sell out all available home areas including half the North stand if given the chance. And if Bolton, should we play them, are only going to give us half their away end, we should do the same.

Quote

Can't see the club splitting north stand but I think they will cut the allocation to away fans. Bolton 2k allocation is a joke we could have sold more than double that. I'm not a season ticket holder doubt I'll get a ticket now.

While I understand the drift of what some are posting, I can't agree. If numbers of away support was crucial to the result then Derby / Bolton would have finished above us They didn't because our team/style is better than theirs. Portsmouth would probably have finished above us in the league also. But they didn't because we have been better than all three I mentioned despite an (understandably) patchy start we finished well ahead of them all and I trust Michael Duff and the team, backed by 13,000+ Reds fans to "do the business" at Oakwell. There haven't been many games where more than 2,000 Reds fans have attended away this srason but we still have an impressive away record. I trust the lads to deliver even if we can only take 2,000 to Bolton....

Just had a nosey round their forum (the Wanderers Ways one) and there is more than a touch of Ipswich about them. Barely a mention of the semi-final (other than tickets) but plenty about who they'll face in the final.

Brought 1800 for a league game in October. Had 10k fans at home against us in January. Now fuming as they're only getting 2000.

They will 100% only give us 2000 and that will be cutting their nose off to spite their face.

I don’t think we know the full story yet.  If we have made the first move in the 2K away limit, it’s arguable we have also cut our nose off to spite our face if we don’t have a 27k sell out (which in my opinion we won’t)

I think a more likely version is that BWFC have been notified that play-offs are a 2k away restriction.

Whoever has “made the decision” it’s a wrong one in my view for both legs. 5k away fans would have meant more people can see the game. And us having 5k away fans in the final leg could/should have been a real (and more significant than a 1st leg) motivating factor for the team and we wouldn’t have 1000s of fans being pissed off that they couldn’t get tickets.

And all this when (both at our ground and theirs) 2k away fans are going to have empty seats around them in the same stand!

It’s a bloody stupid decision.

Ill be the first to apologise if both games are a sell out.

Hello to the bloke who is having a mooch on here from Barnsley. Firstly didn’t Barnsley set the 2k limit? Also very much focused on the semi. They sound a bit scared of us.

Without checking, I'd wager that forums of all play off teams have a number of posts relating to who they would prefer in the final.

Clue is in the name "forum". Maybe the complainant doesn't read the rest of his own.

I would be amazed if the clubs had not spoken to each other before this decision was made. If I was in charge at Bolton would want as few away fans as possible, same for them at theirs.

Absolutely. Both clubs need the money and having a packed ground only builds the atmosphere in the games - which is what we all want in games of this magnitude anyway.

Had a look at Barnsley's ticket map earlier for the game at Oakwell. they are not selling tickets in the North stand (away end) to home supporters, so looks like it will be a half empty stand for the game

Dont think they can if they wanted too pal.

Theres one set of turnstiles.

You're right, but they managed to do it earlier this season against Portsmouth, not sure how they did it tho

Completely agree

Although I think @Ani is arguing the opposite.

For me the only way my argument falls foul is if we ended up with home fans not being able to go to the home game because it’s a sell out with Barnsley having the south stand - but I don’t see this happening.

The advantages of having 5k away Vs opposition having 5k at Reebok are IMO in our favour

- Better atmosphere

- We’ve played well in front of big away followings before

- More money

- Less fans pissed off as 5k away will be right for demand

- We are not faced with empty seats when we could have filled them

- Having 5k away in the final eliminator, with everything riding on that 1 game, maximum jeopardy, final game (bar Wembley) would be a massive boost in the arm of our team

Anyway barnsley not sold out yet went on sale at 10am

Well ignore what I said completely :D

Fuck knows how they managed that. Mind you I don't think Ive been to Barnsley since it was open end.

i also thought there were only turnstiles on one side

i suppose its possible they couldve walked them through from the main stand, but thats v unlikely

There is only one set, you were right, just dunno how they did it but obviously can be done

I think the reason they did it was because for that game they had to close part of the ground due to wind damage??

no way thats happening for a play off semi  :)
