Port Vale (A)

Hoping this will be my first away of the season if I can get tickets, but away capacity is less than it used to be.  We'll be in the Bycars End, the Hamil Road now occupied by Vale fans.

Not sure what capacity of Bycars is but less than Hamil Rd so not likely to be enough to satisfy demand.

£25 in home end for this game so presume same for us.

Well I was pleasantly surprised, really enjoyable atmosphere, very positive, and more evidence of normal folk than anything unsavoury.  For the record, I never suggested we had more knobheads than oth

Amazing goal that

Great save that too

With that goal we've gone from 10th to 4th

We're ahead, that's what matters.

Along as we stay ahead I'm happy.

Pleased with that half.

Dan has done well leading the line but could do with some runners going past him when he's got his back to goal.....

We know all our midfield 3 are capable of just that. Some great running the other night.

Perhaps a bit wary, or a plan to keep a shape?

Good half for the most part.

Could do with another goal for breathing space and we need to be be better with the final pass & keep our concentration levels up but overall we've bossed it.

Still think there's more to come from Vale so it's up to us to give them nothing.

Our possession is superb, but could easily have finished that half 1-1 - well done Backy.

Another goal on the hour for us, then manage the rest of the game.

Or just batter the bastards 0-4.

So much better than recently all the pocession, need to create more chances.

Shapes been good -  just a couple of instances of not tracking their runners but that aside defensively sound. Attacking wise it would be great to have more runs from midfield but we haven't really needed them yet as there have been plenty of occasions when a better final ball would have opened them up. And now with a lead and the majority of possession, why take the risk of a breakaway equaliser?

Vale changed personnel and shape.

Need to switch on to this now

That's what I was hinting at.

Not over-committing, and keeping a decent shape.

Balance now is to keep possession and work them, and take any opportunities.

Have we actually found a use for him? He's never going to be a goal machine but I'll settle for a washing machine right now

Pompey and Oxford now clear top two.

Generally he seems to be getting better and better

Need that second goal from somewhere to deflate them a bit

What? He's won everything

Forrester was shoved into Baxter.

Good move Dan off Bod on, at least he can hold the ball up.

Should’ve finished them off then

We are an accident waiting to happen ATM

A good test of the mental strength in the team

Why is Charles marking there centre half at corners guy ended up with a free header

You can see this being another Reading, we should have had this game won in the first half. Need to get our foot on the ball, calm down and pass it about for a bit to stop their momentum.
