Reet, we used https://www.icerentalcars.is/ They picked us up from the airport, their offices were about a mile away. The mrs booked through booking.com, and got a good deal. Traf
If only @gonzo was friendly with a travel agent who could have sorted flights, hotels, car hire and excursions out for him at a cracking price and all fully financially protected wit no stress. Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted March 1 Site Supporter Share Posted March 1 (edited) Def get duty free and put it in a hip flask for putting in a brew while out and about. Restaurant Markadurin or something like that in the centre is fabulous. Set meals the way to go to keep costs only expensive rather than stupid. Viator.com is your friend for booking trips. Just looked - grillmarkadurinn Edited March 1 by Biggish Dave

Moderators Carlos Posted March 1 Moderators Share Posted March 1 Another thing, I kind of impulsively booked it when I saw EasyJet flights for £60. They are cunts and cancelled the flight, actually due to crosswinds at Kef. So everything went back a day. Hotel were fine with this as it's not so busy, due to volcanoes. Also Nice Travel people bumped us back a day. Pretty stress free. Only prob I had was hotel wanted a credit card swipe and I don't have one. Bit odd. For nibbles, popped in to Bonus supermarket. frank_spencer
If you're going whale watching in the bay use Elding costs a bit more but they know their stuff. https://elding.is/ Make sure you've plenty of money it's not just the beer that's expensive. Check out the Grapevine to see if there's anything fun on while you're there. https://grapevine.is/
gonzo
Thanks for all the advice folks. Great stuff. Sky lagoon booked, gold circle tour booked. Think the south tour is a bit too much to do in one day? Means two full days out on the road. Might need a visit back for the south bit.
bolton in bedford
Went a couple of weeks ago for three nights. We booked a day tour which covered a crater, the geysers, secret lagoon and the parliamentary place. Blue lagoon had just reopened, but we booked before when it was still closed. tour included the northern lights, but they weren’t active so didn’t see them. Did whale watching and there was a few in the harbour, so still may be there. The city is quaint, £10 a pint is average, half price happy hour in the Irish bars. enjoy.
