Shopping list for next season?

Besides the obvious (Cosgrove), the other Longstaff who has had the ACL injury? Worth a punt?

Hearing Sheehan on Derby radar.

Although we've all, perhaps understandably after Saturday, been downgrading their worth, I can see a few clubs thinking a few of ours could fit into their plans at the right sort of price. Sheehan one of those with only a year left, six figures rather than seven and they'll see it as worth a punt

Makes sense. I think he’d be up for that. Being kicked around for another season probably isn’t that appealing

A solid £500k incoming😂

I'd probably take that. Last year of contract and aging. We need to be smarter than we were 10 years ago letting playera run down contracts.

Would need a real readjustment of playing style though

Just seen the retained list and a b team player needs to be selected from game 1 next season -  yestin Shakespear !     Not got a clue what position he plays but he just needs to be in the squad.

To B Team or not to the B Team? That is the question.

I'd sell. We need some different types in that midfield. If Derby want him they can pay top dollar and we can reinvest.

Keep the B team and scrap the academy pick the ones that get released From other club’s academy and save money .

I nioticed we got that lad from Liverpool who was released last season from there’s and know he as been offered a new professional contract after a year of B team football

ogbeta did really well for peterborough, i think?

saturday he had loads of space in front of him first half but we didnt use it for whatever reason

anyway, if we play wing backs, williams is fine, so its a back up we need...imo :)

Williams has grown on me, and I do think he’s ‘fine’. The problem with that is that our wingbacks are arguably the most important positions in this formation and so ‘fine’ doesn’t quite cut it.

Easier said than done but I think we need upgrades on both sides if we’re going to predominantly play wingbacks again next season.

Wingbacks and centre mid are the main areas to upgrade for me. Sell Santos and GT and use the money to really invest in those 2 areas. Up top, centre backs and GK we’re absolutely fine - subject to maybe a loan or two to replace leavers.

Problem is he is in the last year of his contract and has a dodgy knee

Sheehan?

Only Dacres-Cogley & Toal played more minutes. Wish my knees were that dodgy.

Yeah I’d certainly like to keep him.

Same, mate.
I'd like a bigger stronger quicker player sat by him too

A protector. Yes. Very much so.

And then Josh could play further forward threading balls in to Charles & Collins

To push Sheehan further forward we need to sign someone who is very comfortable taking the ball under pressure 30 yards from his own goal. He also needs to be able to handle the rough stuff too.

Not sure how realistic this is in L1 and/or how much this player will cost.

If there's one out there I'm sure they can find one

We found Sheehan, Magohma, Collins, Charles, Baxter, Johnstone etc

He’s a keep for me. Only 1 year on his deal so not getting top dollar.

Jordan Rhodes being released by Huddersfield is a strange one, he did great for Blackpool on loan and still only 34.  Could easily do a job in L1, shades of le Fondre.

It won’t be with us though.

He suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out for half season

It won't be the same

Dodgy probably the wrong word but if I was a championship club, expecting him to play to the level expected I'd ask questions

Getting 'top dollar' I suspect won't be easy

Which is good news for us, I'd rather we kept him than sell him for less than he's worth.
He's worth more to us in L1 than the £400/500k max we might get for him

Evatt or another have got a pretty decent base for a top L1 team with that list.

13

13 of that lot where involved in failing to get us promotion, 11 of them the previous season,  So, the " decent  base" as failed, for whatever reason. Hopefully when a new manager comes in he can get the best out of them, and be able to change tactics to suit.

But the counter argument to that is, they are the only squad in that league who have progressively gone from 9th, to 5th, to 3rd, so are arguably the squad best set, with a foundation, to build on that to get promotion.

That’s why we’ll be in the top two or three in the betting.

EVERY other team is an unknown guess as to whether they have the players (or will buy the players) to be up there.

We don’t know that the Huddersfield and Birmingham players can hack it in L1 or they’ll stay there.

We don’t know if Parky is going to buy the right payers with his Netflix money .

We do know that our squad of players can play at the top end of this division.
