Doubt we will be inundated with offers for Santos after some of his performances this season. A colossal on his day but they're becoming more like rocking horse shit these days. Seems to have become extremely complacent for some reason.

Thing is, if we did want to sell then who to?

Can't see a championship club coming in and who in league one would offer what we'd probably be looking for?

Someone offering £20 puts us in profit tbh

Nixon reporting we want to sign Ashworth.

Is that a sign of altering our pattern? I like Ashworth but seemed behind the rest in the pecking order.

Defensive midfielder next to GT maybe? Plays there for Wales kids and did so for Burton

Amazed at that, but pleasantly surprised.

I think he's had a raw deal tbh.

Showed some balls for the headed equalizer against Barnsley, then a lovely cushioned volley against Carlisle.

He wasn't afraid to get stuck in either, more so than our other options.

I'd be delighted. But it runs counter to how we've used him.

I'd have Caleb back, on loan I guess.

I hope we cash in on a few this summer. Not got anyone in mind particularly but I’d like to see us generate some profit and use it to refresh the team. We’ve been missing something all season.

Baxter, Toal, Thomason, Collins and CMG I hope we keep. The rest I am less bothered about.

I'm hoping decent bids come in for Santos and Charles, not that I think they're bad, just that we could use the money to reinvest in problem areas of the team, and they'd probably command the biggest fees. Although if someone wants to offer us money for Vic or Nlundulu I'd be more than happy.

Marc Iles reporting we may pay to keep Ashworth, as some of you have mentioned already. Has he been injured the last third of the season? I don't understand why we'd pay money for him otherwise as we've hardly played him.

FWIW I actually posted a couple of months ago he looked far better than Ogbeta, but having all these specialist wing backs has really locked us into 532, so I wouldn't be keen on spending money on those positions.

Ashworth isn't a specialist wing-back

Wigan would love him.

Shame he’s gone to Bradford then because he ticks all the boxes for becoming a Wigan player

Did Wigan’s potential signing ever spend time as a Bolton player?

There’s a player in Forrester for me

Doesn't look anywhere near strong enough to play left back, same as Ogbeta, Williams and Cogley. If we went to a back 4 none of them could play in it

Fair enough but I disagree

We dont know yet if Evatt will be here next year or a new manager who will play a back four

would not pay a fee for Ashworth, better being released

I wouldn't lose any sleep if I didn't see any of Ashworth, Ogbeta, Williams, Iredale again, on the other side same with Jones and Cogley. I might be minded to give Jones another season but as RWB with a better, quicker right sided CB behind him.

Evatt needs a radical rethink in the WB positions, if he's still here and still sticking resolutely to his preferred shape. None of what we have are robust enough to do both aspects of the job equally effectively.

Well exactly. I'm not sure why we'd be after him either way. If Evatt is here Ashworth was way down the pecking order, if Evatt leaves we can't have a squad so full of wing backs for the next manager to inherit.

Realistically we need to make some space in the squad across the board to allow either Evatt or a new manager to freshen up a few positions and with the long contracts most are on, buying 4th choice wing backs seems really odd

If. And it's a big if, there's a change (ether in manager or style), would it be worth at a switch to a 4-2-3-1 type of system?

                                                   Baxter

Cogs / RB                   Toal                      Johnston                         LB

                           Sheehan                     Ball winner

CMG                                   CAM                                   Collins

                                          Dion

I'd look to sell Rico, would let Geth / Randell, GT, Morley, possibly Dempsey and Adebeyejo go. Free JDB and Jerome.

Becomes a massive rebuild then though

Think Randell can work in that formation, in a Ricardo Gardner esque role.

Just spoken to a mate who is big Ipswich fan, he says their preferred formation is 4-2-3-1, although they do occasionally got to a back 3 when needs must.

So why the fuck does Evatt persist in Santos as this QB type role, rarely paying dividends attacking wise and leaving us exposed at the back. I just don't understand the strategy at all, it's high risk for little reward.

Ipswich have done back to back promotions with a proper manager in high demand but Evatt knows best.

Get a back 4 with two rugged centre halves to get us out of this division and a couple of shit houses in midfield.

I just hope Evatt just fucks off tbh, he isnt half as clever as he thinks and tells people.

Many people from Saturday have got their receipts too Ian, and will be quick to get on your back for day one.

Back to the topic.

From "left field", Adam Lallana left Brighton.

Not a midfield twat, but maybe an experienced old head who could pull strings, especially against a well organised team?

36 now, which doesn't help, but surely he could do a job, even just to help us up.

There's absolutely no chance he's moving up north for what we'd be offering to pay him.

I agree, but looks uncomfortable to me playing on the right of 3 centre backs, he looks like a bone fide centre back in a 4-4-2 who is fine in possession, but being expected to proactively get involved in attacks like Jones does, isn't his natural game.  I expect him to leave due to lack of game time because Santos, Toal, Johnstone and Jones are ahead of him and that's without re-signing Taylor.

If IE stays we aren't playing anyone at left back, and if IE goes we aren't signing Ashworth (IMO).  If he signs for IE he needs his head testing TBH, he won't play other than as occasional stand in and pizza cup games (again, IMO).
