For me, a terrible city in a terrible country, full of terrible people. Hated every minute.

Nevertheless, head to Brusseler Platz in Belgisches Viertel.

Less dickheads there, and some relatively decent places to eat/drink.

I worked there for three years & liked Cologne very much , never met any dickheads apart from a few Brits/Irish on stag do’s.

Germans are like us , miserable on Mondays & happy on Fridays!

Match tickets landed, free rail pass live, all getting a little bit close 😎

Free rail pass ??
assume you need match tickets to qualify.

Not sure any of them has done anything so far to challenge the 1st 11.

Palmer

Eze

Trippier

Pickford

Think I’d have Toney over Watkins

happily take any of the back 4 as the alternatives aren’t great.

Not sure about trippier at left back, had a very poor season to

Agree it’s more of a ‘who else’ shout

Agree. Always coming back inside, never any natural width ready to go on the outside. Other than the injured Shaw have we got any left backs in the squad?

Shaw is the stand out LB. Ben Chillwell has gone massively off the boil.

Other than those 2 I think there's only Rico Henry at Brentford or Tyrick Mitchell at Palace who play top level football regularly

Good shout on Mitchell. Where is he?

I know he’s not had the best of seasons, but Grealish has to stay in the squad. He’s so good at looking after the ball, while penetrating and creating chances.

Good finish that

We are all different. One of my favourite countries to visit.

Spent a lot of time on the outskirts of Frankfurt and always had a ball there. Living there for a few years  rather then visits of 2-4 weeks must be one influencing factor. I am always looking forward to getting back there. Would have been in the next month or so but I'll pass due to Euro 2024 being on.

Agree on Toney.

Though if there's room, then both.

I think there is room for both Toney and Watkins. He's got to knock 7 out if the squad. Traff will be one that's left behind so 6 outfield players. Quansaj, Curtis Jones and Wharton probably won't make it. Don't need both dunk and branthwaite. So one of them I'd of thought. If your taking eze do you need maddison ?

I’d have Eze over Maddison. Not even close.

I'd be stunned if both don't go. Toney is a like for like backup for Kane. While Watkins will stretch defences and is great option when teams are tired.  Bit daft writing him off because of a glorified B team game.

Wharton looking a good prospect, probably for the next tournament, knocked the ball about with ease last night

Looks like a gooden from the bits I’ve seen.

Lad on talksport just then saying Trent over Bellingham.

Anyone got a spares pocket radio? My old one is embedded in my forehead.

I’d take Arnold as a full back. The pep conversion from full back to CM isn’t for everyone unsurprisingly as it’s a completely different position.

I couldn’t comment on Bellingham 😂

Ha. Nah, just a lot of shitty experiences.

Lived in 7 European countries in a 12-year period. I liked them all to varying degrees, except Germany.

When I lived in France, Denmark and Holland, and visited Germany, I thought it wasn't too bad. But then living there, was an eye-opener.

I had a German-Iraqi girlfriend and a best mate from Syria (upstanding bloke, worked for the UN). The way they were followed around shops because of the colour of their skin was a surprise. And the way they were talked about within earshot, because they didn't seem to realise a dark-skinned person could be fluent in German, was a shock.

I couldn't rent a car park spot in Koln, because I was a 'foreigner'. "I don't think any garages in Koln accept foreigners".

Police turned-up at my door, because a neighbour dobbed me in for having a UK-registered car outside my girlfriend's house for 6 months and 3 days. Apparently I needed to change to a German reg if there for more than 6 months, which is fine, but what sort of people tally how long a car has been parked in a certain place for and call the cops.

A whole list of experiences like that almost weekly. Okocha and Son weren't wrong.

When you mention the above to Germans, they don't seem surprised. They're all complicit. A group of Aussies, Kiwis and Candians I was part of, would joke that the secret police have never left.

I found they're at the happiest when they point out to someone that something they did wasn't perfect. They got off on pointing out flaws. Drive through an orange light, and every dick flashes their lights at you.

Just my experience. I'm clearly not over it. I appreciate we all have different experiences. I got the impression they genuinely feel they are the Aryan race (still). When we all know that is Luxembourg, or somewhere like that.  😄

Anyway, back to the football ... 'I would love it' if Germany crash out in the group stage.

Aye, me too.  Eze looks good enough to play at the very top.  I'd be amazed if he's not at a 'big' club by the start of next season.

obviously not over bellingham, but trents range of passing is the best in the squad, the one player who can unlock the door with a pin point pass
