Jol_BWFC Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 (edited) Still can’t work out the offside. He must have given if for: 1. Collins on the cross, but he doesn’t head it or get near it, so is he interfering? 2. Vic on the cross, which looks very tight given the angle their defender is leaning at. He’s also flagged ridiculously late. 3. Vic for blocking the keeper’s eyeline, which it doesn’t look like he is. None of their players (including the keeper) claimed for it. 4. Being an inept wanker. FrancisFogarty Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Vic in the keepers eyeline was the consensus where I sit. Quote
bolton va va Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Poor & depressing 1st half ( & i thought Baxter could have done better with their goal ) but huge improvement in the 2nd half. Schon got better & better but, for me, the driving force in the 2nd half was MOTM, Thomasson. EIEIfucking O. Quote

Eventually though, when we'd something to shout about, the atmosphere was pretty good What's going on here? I didn't say the quote Quote

Ref had a decent view - right behind Dion, but given he got so many other calls wrong, I’d not be surprised if he got this one wrong too. Quote

Even that though - Vic’s not offside, there’s a Blackpool player next to Collins playing him on. Still take this shit over VAR any day of the week, but for me it was just another example of a terrible referee. We came to the conclusion that he was a ref that had never played football himself, he just didn’t understand how the game goes - there was a tackle that McAtee made in the centre of the pitch, he got the ball but because the pitch was piss wet through his momentum meant that the player went over him too. Nothing malicious in it, Blackpool player didn’t claim for it, purely just due to the conditions and he gave a free kick - he was clueless. Quote
deeane Koontz Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 If our player is in a offside position and standing in front of the keeper (slightly to one side) as someone shoots - it's offside. The keeper in that split second moment has evaluate the ball going in the opposite direction too which is a distraction in itself. It's not hard to stay onside. Quote

In your case, you have form for such comments over managers, so you'd be no different. All of which is irrelevant: it's a forum, and if folk are effectively being told to shut up for honestly expressing an opinion, then that's a great shame. It also doesn't get away from the fact that we're still miles away from the performance levels needed. As promised a more considered opinion 😊. Out on the piss loving the day yesterday, so wasn’t much in the mood to be balanced. Reading back and seeing the comments and likes on our posts, there’s a clear split between folk who agreed with me that the in match wild predictions of doom and abusive claims when we are losing are ridiculous. But as you claim it’s a forum to come out and express yourself, so no-one’s stifled and expect comeback - no problem with that. Of course you’re right and I agree with you, that result doesn’t paper over the cracks, it was a poor first half and the box midfield fails more often than it works. But just as I accept that there’s going to be valued and considered opinion that’s different to mine, I think you can see why most folk post game were more focussed on the win, the injury time goal, beating a local rival, the 2nd half come back and the feel good factor after that. All good debate 👍 Quote

paulhanley Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 (edited) Yesterday's result continues the very odd trend of neither of these two sides being able to win away fixtures against each other. I was aware of it but looked it up for confirmation. It's really stark. https://www.11v11.com/teams/bolton-wanderers/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Blackpool/ They've not won at Bolton since Spring 1986 (1-3 to Blackpool at Burnden): Since then in the league we've W 6 D 5 L 0 We've not won at Gloomfield Road since Xmas 1977 (0-2 Whatmore, Worthington) : Since then we've W 0 D6 L 5 The clubs didn't play each other between 1977/78 and 1985/6 due to us being in higher divisions throughout. You can add a few cup fixtures to those tallies in which neither side has rustled up an away win either! What makes it all the more remarkable is that away wins have been very close on many occasions. In the past 10/15 years alone Blackpool have blown 0-2 leads at ours twice and there was a game in which Eidur (mark 2) scored a 96th minute equaliser for us. Those with longer memories will remember us more than once losing late traumatically at Blackpool having gone one up. It's all the more odd because derbies are usually the fixtures in which home advantage counts a bit less. Ball's in our court now to puncture this jinx when we go there in the New Year. Rizlar Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Problem with Vic he regularly is given offside he doesn’t look down the line but then again lots of players are guilty of it . He was interfering with play as soon as the ball hit the net the flag went up. Quote
noxid Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Just said on another platform. Sit him down and show him an hour of video of when to make his runs. Of course he should already know this as a so called striker along with how to hold a ball up until the midfield arrive but he doesn't have that skill. Quote

In the build up I looked at the linesman, he twitched on the first cross, as I think Vic again was offside but it didn’t go near him. Once it went to Charles I didn’t think the linesman was going to raise the flag, from where we and the linesman were I don’t see how you could tell whether Vic was in the line of the keeper. Are Ref and Linesman “microphoned” up in L1? Ref was in a better position to see if Vic was in front of keeper, could there have been a quick conversation to confirm both their views in coming up with the decision? Im still not convinced Vic’s position impedes the keeper. Quote

Casino Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Theres a thogden wannabe on YT Bens vlogs or similat He captures the goal from level with vic and collins and theyre clearly 'offside' However, vic is not in the keepers eyeline If he touches it or even tries, then hes active goal for me, which, if given and collins doesnt miss from a yard, is one of 4 in a mighty impressive 2nd half Quote

He captures the passion and emotion celebrating the winner, great watch - good lad 👏👏 Completely agree with your take on Charles goal. And great second half, loved it. Quote
Ani Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 For all those bemoaning the poor first half surely you also have to praise an exceptional second half ? Strange the anti Evatt crowd do not. in first half Dion misses another sitter from the cross. They score next attack. Second half on top of the 2 goals Charles has one harshly disallowed and Collins misses a sitter. 4 goals would have reflected the performance. Quote
W.cramp Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Not seen it mentioned but anybody notice the bedsheet brought out at the start of the 2nd half - bottom of esl , looked like a bloke and his 12 year old son. 'Thanks evatt but time to go' or somet like that were the felt tip words. Pathetic prick Quote
