You know that recent conversation about have we lost any this season where we could say we were unlucky ...

Thought we were the better team, created the better chances, wrestled control back after their spell after half time, looked like there was only one team likely to win it ... then a penalty from a nothing situation.

Gutted, but at least SS can start his own winning run now.

Shame that   Bolton great support home fans shit but how many times have we seen that and it counts for nought .
We wanted better than victor and at looks like we have found a hold up man worse not just the pen but a header 5 yards out looked like it hit him in the face

Unlucky really a draw would have been a fair result.

Difficult to take , we put a shift in today . Draw would have been a fair result. Looking forward to next week when ss has had time with the players.

Hopefully SS can get this all sorted no improvement really very poor

I thought the performance was streets ahead of the last 2 aways under IE (Exeter and Rotherham).  Some decent football today and we were the better team for the most of that game.  Collins slots it home at Huddersfield and Exeter, we win, he misses better chances today and that's the result in a nutshell.  Sheehan's free kick top corner v Reading at home and the pens go to us, we win; Sheehan hits bar and pen goes to them today, they win, its fine margins, who knows which player will click (or cock up) on a given day.

Eight out of ten games we win that game.......Forrester was awesome  Collins gets a hat trick another day.

Midfield we just looked at sea.

Thought Vic did ok

Etete way off it

When we signed him Thursday he was out of contract in the summer, thought we may look at him and take him in the summer.

Just do not get it....Markham yet again bringing a player clearly unfit

Hope Schumacher  leaves Darby and Tutte alone in junior positions but the board need to look at Markhams track record

This is a signing that will be moving no needles but it is not the lads fault

Whilst disappointing and undeserved that defeat, taking the supporter excitement out of the scenario it’s not too much of a surprise. They aren’t a bad side and our players are in a bit of a half way house today. 3 lots of different instructions to take on and try and implement over the last 10 days or so.

Thankfully no game this midweek and Schuey can really start to put his ideas across and they can implement for next week.

even in the last 2 days you can see there’s an eagerness to play through the lines quicker though. Certainly from the back 3 which is a positive.

My only general concern is we now look quite light up top. Not in numbers of players just in number of goals. Big reliance on Collins as non of the others are anywhere near prolific

Disappointing result as we had by far the better chances. Don't think Southwood had a real save to make and Collins could have had two or three goals.

Decent enough performance away from home. Thought Vic did pretty well today and the substitution made us worse.

It'll take Schumacher a while to get the players playing the way he wants but not a terrible start even though we lost.

Think we signed him knowing he wasn’t match fit, hasn’t he just signed a new contract at Cardiff which suggests they think something of him.

Etete needs a full pre season by the look of it. Don't know why he was even down there. Leave him on the half way line FFS. Unfortunately Collins should have had 2 or 3 today and it would have been game over. Like I said in a previous post. Hate losing to these lot and their shit head fans. Feel really sorry for the amazing fans.

I know it's only goal difference but will we ever get into the top six. Seems like so near yet so far!

Why is it when its open play our defenders are more than capable of dealing with balls into the box and runners, but when its a free kick we feel the need to pull everyone back?  Let the defenders defend, yes the midfield can help out that's their job, and the attackers either attack or occupy at least 2 of their defenders on the halfway line.  Just handing the initiative to the opposition by being camped in our box, how many times has McAtee given away free kicks by needlessly coming back to "defend".  Bloody annoying.

Agreed, that goes down in the "unlucky" column, so from that point of view its an improvement.

The defence kept their levels from the past two games, they were solid even if Thomason & Etete tried their best to gift goals away. We didn’t play well in possession but still created huge chances still, Collins is our star man but today shows you can’t just rely on him to be your only source of goals. A full week for Schumacher to properly work with the players now, figure out who’s in his best XI & what shape he thinks is best suited.

Unfortunately too many players had a bad day: Collins, Randall, Sheehan. A couple of others quiet: Thomason, Murphy. Then an unfit player came on and wasn’t at the races.

When it comes together we will win games comfortably. But when it doesn’t, we’re susceptible to being punished.

That's spot on. But I'd add a worry on midfield. We can't break up play enough and then retain it. A real tough tackling midfielder is needed.

Tbh though I'm just enjoying the games now, if we get this striker and midfielder to make a proper go of it great. But a bit unrealistic given we have 2 days to do it.

Agree, just think it was not fair to throw him in.....Certainly nowhere near being match fit, doubt we will see him again until the Wrexham/Vale game

Just another Signing who joins us not match fit....Dempsey, Williams, Firino , Desmond  and Both keepers joined us with  bad recent injuries just before they signed

A point would've been a good result. As it is, it's another game against a top 10 side we've lost and another we've lost without scoring.

Will take time to turn it around. Onwards and upwards.

Collins can't be expected to be the only regular scorer.

no idea what warranted Schon and Morley to be dropped

head scratched that one

Schon looked like he pulled up a bit before he came off on Tuesday, presume this was a game too far.

Its not as if Etete is a proven striker just finding his way back to form and fitness.  No track record, lacking match fitness as a minimum, and its a reasonable guess that SS has never seen him play in the flesh, its not like he's been scouting him for weeks.  Just odd to bring him on at 0-0 especially as we had 2 strikers on, he made it 3 which in itself is questionable at 0-0 away from home.

Hopefully next time he gets a run out to improve  his sharpness we're already a couple of goals up.
