First home match for SS and his team.

It will be interesting to see what if any changes are made by SS after he has had a week to work with the players.

Crawley gave Wrexham a game on Saturday and were only beaten by a 95th minute winner. Although they are in the bottom four it won’t be as easy as some folk think or hope it will be.

Some difference to how he’ll be remembered here. Genuinely one of those players in about 3 years where someone will mention his name and it’ll be a case of “Scott Arfield, did he really play for us?”.

Good luck to him, I think he was a pretty decent player at one point but we just got him 2-3 years too late.

Absolutely agree but having been previously parked even in the US it seemed an odd bit of recruitment. 

I have zero objection to finding a once great* player who's leg aren't what they were at top level ... but it needs to be realistic.

 

*though not sure SA quite fits that description.

I sometimes wonder whether managers should have their own transfer window

Agreed. If we lose it just means we are less likely. We are pretty much gonna be building for next season anyway

Biggest change with SS is the belief that if we can get in the play-offs we've a chance. Don't think many of us could get excited about reaching the play-offs under Evatt because the ultimate disappointment seemed inevitable *.

This kind of thinking is just setting him up to fail. Next season is the one to judge him.

He gets a free pass from me this season.

But it's far from a miracle to reach the play-offs.

Not sure he did tbh. Few return passes from where they came, normally backwards, that’s about it. 

I think Arfield was a victim of being the last one to know he’s done. Seemed a good guy. 

Really poor on the buying teams part though. They should of seen it.

After Shrewsbury next week its such a tough run of fixtures, its unfair if anyone judges SS on the number of points he gets, relative to all the other play off challengers.  Yes we'll be expecting better performances and signs of a system/plan, but its not a level playing field expecting him to improve our current position.

I agree with that bit, if we do get to the play offs, its because we've proved we can win some of those games we 100% wouldn't win under IE, so we'll automatically take confidence into the play offs.  I wasn't too fussed about getting in the play offs under IE as it would have been another disappointment, if SS manages it we'll be well up for the challenge.
