Crawley Town (H)

First home match for SS and his team.

It will be interesting to see what if any changes are made by SS after he has had a week to work with the players.

Crawley gave Wrexham a game on Saturday and were only beaten by a 95th minute winner. Although they are in the bottom four it won’t be as easy as some folk think or hope it will be.

A scrappy 3-2 victory

I think with what we have left he will be almost an auto start up top with Collins or Mcatee playing off him. I just hope a good run of games gives him a lease of life.

Etete to be fair will be his challenger and let’s hope he can bring something good. I do feel it will be vics to lose. I’m not mad on him by the way.

I agree, Vic isn't getting dropped any time soon (not sure there are better options currently), but one of the consequences of having a new manager is he hasn't watched these players week in week out for 18 months or so.  They are all being judged on what they've done in the last 2 weeks, understandably.  As fans, we largely know the strengths and weaknesses of most of our players, more than SS will in the short term.  He still has that learning to do, another reason its unrealistic to expect him to get us playing to our potential in the tougher games in the short term.

Last week, Crawley only lost to Wrexham to a last minute goal that should have been disallowed so it won't be a walkover but we should beat them.....we were much better than them in the away game.

I'm going to be quite nerdy today trying to read SS's influence....not expecting sweeping changes but team selection & tactical tweaks will be interesting ( to me ). Looking forward to it.

Another one of our favourite discussions pal! 😂

A fans view will be a completely different perspective. And yes while we can tell SS that for a big lad while Vic held it up well at Huddersfield, you should have seen him away at Orient Jan 24 where he looked anonymous and couldn’t hold the ball up for toffee. Let me tell you Mr Schumacher you’ll soon come to see it our way. 😂

I bet Schumacher will have learnt more about Vic in these last two weeks than we’ll ever know.

As it happens I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mcatee start with Collins today.

One of the strangest games I saw live under Evatt. Other than scoring 2 goals we didn’t really contribute much to the game.

It was yet another false down (a bit like Orient) where we thought maybe we can be the kind of side under Evatt who don’t have to boss possession yet can win games…

Ha ha 😀

Honestly not trying to come across as "we know more about the players than you do" and he'll soon know them inside out, but its hard to escape that thought in the short term - for better and for worse.  Like we know Forrester is a very good CB for this level (as SS will be finding out) but once he's picked in a different defensive position, his limitations can be exposed.  There will be one or 2 players that have poor games this month and SS may think they need to prove themselves to him, we will have seen them play some decent games and may have more confidence in them eg Schon, Lolos.

Anyway, enough of my nonsense, enjoy the game!

I think the new manager bounce will kick in today with a week of training and players working that bit harder as they to prove themselves.

I can't wait for this.

I fear it's too late in the season to make a difference for promotion through the play-offs. It's still the same players that bottled big games etc.

Prove me wrong SS commandant.

would like to see a change in formation.....Doubt we will see this now this season. Interesting to see if Schon will start now or if he sees Murphy  as his first choice lwb. Interesting selection at home can see him bringing Morley back for this

Dropped like flies here. Ended up with a few ESL spares if anyone wants any.

I’m just really interested to see what side SS starts with today because I believe it will tell us a lot about how he sees the squad. Personally I wouldn’t start either Schon or Desmond and go with JDC and Murphy to ensure we’re strong defensively. We’ve more than enough skill elsewhere to provide the exciting hits but the other change I could see would be leaving Vic out and starting AC on his own up front with a strong midfield behind him. Not long to go but it will be interesting to see who’s in and also who’s out and not even on the bench!

No Collins 🫣

Could be wrong, but it looks like 4231 to me.

Schon and Tutu on the wings, Murphy at left back, Morley and Sheehan as the 2, and then Randall behind McAtee.

Could be just the same 532 but I don’t see why Johnston wouldn’t be LCB over Murphy or who plays up top with McAtee.

looks like the 5 has gone,,,,,interesting

Amazed.

Is that 442 ? Two wingers ?

4-5-1

Great to see.

COYWM 👏👏

4-5-1

Whichever way you look at it, I reckon it's 4 at the back.

Not sure SS entirely fancies Matete- he let him go at Plymouth- but it's a total football line up.

Play them to death, then Matete and Lolos to shore it up and hit them on the break later.

Well it’s time for McAtee to stand up and show what he’s got now so let’s hope he pulls it off. If we’re going with two wingers though I’d have expected Lolos or Etete up top who can at least head the ball. Let’s see how it goes come on you Whites.

I think your 4-2-3-1 might be right

Collins must surely be injured

In fact, I've just seen the tweet confirms he's out with a knock

Ohh looking foward to seeing Schon and Tutu on the wings. Been wanting that for months

4-2-3-1 could be nice change, only concern for me that there’s no option on the bench for either wing second half.

Im pleased with 4 at the back though, absolutely pig sick of seeing a back 3/5.
