Only the most wealthy fans in the world will be at this world cup supporting their team. Doesnt scream fun to me.  If England get to the final, i'd genuinely rather be in england than at the game

  • If it wasn't for my lads I wouldn't want us anywhere near the premier league.

Has that ever happened before?

I've just learned it happened 3 times at France 98 alone, including Tunisia again 😃

What are we making of the early BBC v ITV coverage?

ITV streets ahead for me at the moment,

After trying all coverage available to me, RTE has come out on top!

BBC literally phoning it in.

I’m a bit of a hypocrite on this as like Zico I will watch most football but a grouping where you can finishing 3rd in a 4 man group and qualify is bullshit.

Removing the jeopardy just doesn’t work.

portugal came 3rd in euro 2016 and went on to win it

to be fair it was 3 draws and the one that got them out the group was an epic 3-3

Aye, I don’t doubt some will break the mould. I suggest they don’t deserve to if they finish 3rd

If they're England fans, they should have a England flag

Definitely an african World Cup this one over 60 percent of all the players are from African decent . 60 of which born in Paris alone

Who gives a fuck? We're all of African descent.

Bad injury for Canada, Leg broke. 2nd red for Qatar

Was a fairly innocuous challenge really.

I think the card was upgraded to red purely for the extent of the injury as opposed to the tackle, which is a bit of a shame.. The Qatar player looked devastated

These men feel very strongly about the log flume.

You get the feeling the Jocks for all their inexperience are a lot better at enjoying the WC than us. Video on Facebook on England fans belting out ‘10 German Bombers’ some American just asked ‘why are they so angry’

No doubt written by a Scot.

I do get the 'Choose Gazza' one though.

It does look like Texas has impressed even some of our more experienced travellers - some of the food I've seen coming up on my feed (ha) looks so good!

The Tartan Army are a great organisation.

The way they travel & raise money for local causes is class.

Some brilliant stories coming out of them hiring all the yellow school buses & taking over a red socks baseball game.

No better national anthem out there.

Shame their manager is so fckn boring. As the players they have are capable of playing with a lot more ambition.

Benefits

Is it me or has ITV gone for the usual WC big stage coverage and the BBC have shit themselves and gone for Temu comparable guests and staging so are not bothering with the expense?

Its like they know they are damned if they do and damned if they don't so have gone for what they hope doesn't attract too much criticism?

Yep, when the likes of Curacao, know they have to go for it and win by 5 clear goals 😁 - I do get the point though, it'll mean there aren't actually any dead rubbers, as you can lose the first 2 and still qualify for the next round

We've ended up with completely dead rubber games because the group stage rankings are being done on head to head rather than goal difference.

For example, USA v Turkey has no impact as US can't not win the group and Turkey can't not finish last even if they get a big win. They've absolutely killed the group stage excitement.

I've not seen much up to now, but are the pubs busy as fuck ? Them that I've been in and gone past don't seem to be bursting at the seams. Not seen gangs of pissheads outside the Dancers. Not more than usual anyway.

Was only saying today I wouldnt be at all surprised if in tournaments to come (especially if we go to 64) the groups were replaced by a league table where not everyone plays eachother, as we now have in the Champions League.

Currently I'm watching it, not overly disliking it, but not finding it essential either as I have done in the past. I'm also finding it very hard to remember off the top of my head who is in each group and even who some teams played in their first game.

I want international tournaments to be a break and a rare treat away from club football, but I dont need 5 weeks of it 😃

aye, I'm enjoying watching 4 lots of highlights each day, but haven't actually looked at a group table so not 100% sure what is going on in each group as they head into the final games

i have though enjoyed most the games and grounds, Toronto being my favourite

there'll also be a decent amount of knock out football which is when I'll either watch full games or go from 12 mins to 30 mins highlights
