August 19, 20251 yr Farage is just using this to skirt British Law which prohibits Political Parties from having official uniforms, because like all good fascists, he wants his supporters to wear uniforms. Quite clever really.ย It's also another way to mimic Trump and his daft red MAGA hats.

August 19, 20251 yr Driving down the A34 today towards Wilmslow, looks like some patriots have been busy, two union jacks in both directions on this and other foot bridges along the way ย

August 19, 20251 yr This tourist tax business is an interesting ย one. Iโve been for the first time in Madeira but it was โฌ56 euro for 4 of us. My brother said he was done for ยฃ500 for 4 days in New York. Not sure if everyone is doing it (Germany bake in the hotel price) we should look to reciprocate if so. August 19, 20251 yr Having a flag in your garden is the equivalent of having a trampoline or a shopping trolly on your front lawn. IE - it points out to everyone around the neighborhood that you're a massive scratter.ย We're not the US FFS - although it's starting to feel more and more like we are every day!ย
August 19, 20251 yr Bloke who's moved in at the end of the street has chopped down all the trees in his garden and put up a flag pole, regularly changes from a Union Jack to various military type ones. Used to be the nicest garden in the street but he's managed to make it look like a bleak compound in no timeย Edited August 19, 20251 yr by deeane Koontz

Tourist tax isn't ยฃ500 for 4 days in NYC, no idea where he got that from. We paid about $38 per night at the Marriott Marquis and got $25 worth of bar credit back each night. I think even 5* hotels are about $45 per night per room.

There is a resort fee in lots of us holidays- that gets put as credit against various bars/restaurants The tax is a function of where you are, and the cost of the room. ย I was slap bang in times square and needed two expensive rooms. He admittedly says it was $500 rather than sterling. 2. New York City, USA The U.S.โs โBig Appleโ takes second place in the rankings of the most expensive tourist tax cities, with its combination of a $3.50 per person nightly fee alongside a 14.75% tax on total bookings. For an average holiday rental in the city priced at ยฃ195 per night, tourists can expect to pay approximately ยฃ31.46 in taxes each day. As one of the most popular tourist destinations in the U.S., this is a great way for New York to generate revenue from the 60 million tourists that visit the city each year to support its infrastructure and services, keeping its wheels turning year-round for globe-trotting tourists. ย ย
