The smallest of worlds

Here's mine

Was in Rhodes last week and the week before....got chatting with some Southerners by the pool bar. One recognised the dulcet tones of Boltonian

Said he knew a well known face here and came up here in the 90's to meet the said face and drank with us on Daubhill and many other places

Rob from Luton is mates with Ste Winny......we all chatted a few hours later via social media

The world is very small folks,  and very short too, please enjoy it ♥

Was in the most haunted pub in York last night, it was rammed and we could see a young couple looking for seats so we asked them if they wanted to get on our table. Turns out they were from LH, his aunty teaches my lad and we had loads of mutuals.

If the pub was the Golden Fleece then there was a programme on the BBC about it last night.

then you found out they died last year

I bought my brother-in-law and sister tickets for The Rolling Stones at Anfield for his 70th. They got talking to a American couple next to them and he worked with my Aunts son at Boeing in the fire dept.

Bumped into a mates son at Qatar Airport, in a broad Bolton accent he said 'I fucking know him' to his missus as he walked past.   Same trip Allan Levers son who has the window place on Tonge Moor Road was at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Two years ago a girl asked if I was Breightmet Boy at the side of the pool in Barbados, it was a girl who worked on the next floor at the BEN. There was only about 10 folk around the pool

That made me chuckle. Not like I’m much taller like.

Was in Washington DC in 2019. Whilst visiting Congress noticed there was a big event in the gardens. Was going down to the subway platform later and platform was rammed with a pipe band, kilts the full works.

Train due in 3 minutes but intrigued we asked one who they were. They were from San Francisco and had been playing at the event and they were heading back to the airport. Guy asked us where we were from. Said you probably won’t have heard of it but Bolton, England - it’s near Manchester. He laughs and tells us his son is studying for a Nursing degree at Bolton Uni and he and his wife were visiting again in 4 months. Weird.

I once went on a package holiday to Benidorm. Imagine my surprise when I found out my ten year old son had also booked a holiday, and was staying in the room right next to us!

In Lanzarote couple of years ago, finding a bar to watch the Portsmouth away game in and a lad who at the time we used to drink with before most games was walking into same bar. Did not even know he was in Lanzarote.

Then Dion missed a sitter proving lightening does strike twice !

Benidorm Embankment bar last Boxing Day, sat down and the chap next to us was who sits next us in North Lower.

In a remote village in Crete last October recovering from my TIA episode. Went in a bar watching Rangers on a Thursday night jobby. 5 people in there, 2 were from Glasgow,  never saw them before in our puff, but turns out they lived 400 yards away, albeit separated by the railway and their godparents are my partner's neighbours.

The railway is supposedly meant to be a bit like the motorway bridge which separates the Farnworth Fannies and Little Hulton Layabouts.

Anyway, as you were

Last time I was in Costa Teguise a group sat on a table next to us and I noticed a false leg next to me.

Was our well known Landlord from Deane.

....he also had a big wedge of away tickets in his back pocket :)
