freds dad Posted Thursday at 08:41 Author Posted Thursday at 08:41 I’ve just returned 2 tickets in block 124 row 16 if anyone is looking. Quote
bwfc4ife Posted Thursday at 08:47 Posted Thursday at 08:47 So do we have any team news for either side? I was wondering if Wooton might start up front for this one especially with no Toal assuming he's out? Quote
BeeversLeftPeg Posted Thursday at 08:56 Posted Thursday at 08:56 Article in the Bolton News says Toal is 'a major doubt' for Sunday so I'd imagine he's going to be missing. Same XI with Conway in and Johnston moving to CB alongside Forino? Quote
Wullie Posted Thursday at 08:58 Posted Thursday at 08:58 Total has had a hamstring issue since the start of the year, sounds like it may have finally gone on him Quote
bwfc4ife Posted Thursday at 09:05 Posted Thursday at 09:05 From their point of view, surely they'll be thinking about sticking wooton up top then. Quote

Only if they’ve got a centre back available, otherwise they’re cutting their nose off to spite their face. Also, Toal and Johnston are pretty similar in terms of aerial ability - if it was Forino that was out then you’d say we’re definitely weaker in the air at the back, but as it is I think it’s pretty much so so whether Toal plays or not. Bertie Posted Thursday at 09:12 Posted Thursday at 09:12 If Toal is out then I worry about Conway at LB, and him getting caught out of position with long balls over the top. Will need good support/cover from GJ. Quote

Stockport backline lacks height hence why Wooton will almost certainly start there think Pye is the tallest fit defender at bang on six foot Hope Dalby gets the starting role Quote

I dont think we look as exposed when Erhahon starts games except at corners when we only leave Desmond back on his own which is utter madness Quote

Another potential blessing to having Erhahon in the side, keeps that whole left side in check, hopefully that benefits Conway as much as it seemed to benefit Johnston. Quote
Popular Post Lostock Whites Posted Thursday at 09:49 Popular Post Posted Thursday at 09:49 They've got some good players but I think we've got just as good players in those positions to nullify them. Barry is their best player but Tutu will be against him who we all know is rapid and on that big pitch too. He's been in great form particularly over the 2 legs. Forino managed Wootton very well at our place last month, but he will be in defence. With Sheehan Rodrigues's ability and Erhahon’s steel in midfield, we've got more than enough to combat Norwood and co. Then they have to worry about us. Dalby, with ACD and Cissoko either side. If they're at their best and we're at ours I've got every confidence we beat them. I guess its about who shows up on the day. But it just feels right that these bastards have had our number over recent years just like Wigan, another small local club with barely any fans and the usual "Bolton get battered" songs, just copy and paste. That we have chance to put all those bad results to rest on Sunday, just like we did with Wigan already. Somebody else pointed out that in this league 1 era of ours we have had many adversaries and sort of bogey teams. Clubs much smaller than ours that have had their moment against us time and time again. Stockport, Wigan, Burton, Rotherham, Accy, heck even that season against Morecambe. But slowly we have avenged most of those teams and laid ghosts to rest, particularly under Schuey. I find it more than fitting that the last ghost to rest are these. And if we beat them in front of a support that will be 2/3 times larger than theirs, then we are back in the Championship after so long away. We've not returned or fully been back since nearly going into extinction due to the horrific management of individuals that are not worthy of mentioning. It's been too long now, clubs have their ups and downs but I do believe as they say, that the cream eventually rises to the top. Let's have them COYWM. Quote
Domcarey1 Posted Thursday at 10:14 Posted Thursday at 10:14 On our last visit to Wembley we had 2 right footed centre backs & Oxford targeted Toal’s weak left foot. We’ll have a more balanced back line this time & the safety net of Erhahon so should be ok. We have to start Dalby! Quote
bwfc4ife Posted Thursday at 10:21 Posted Thursday at 10:21 Johnston worries me at centre half despite his heroics at Bradford second half. Would feel miles more confident with him at left back although having said this, I'd feel miles more confident if Kenny was fit so we can only go with what we've got. I watched the first game of Stockport at Stevenage and they were both horrible that day. I'm not sure why they got so many plaudits for the win at home as I'm sure everyone expected a comfortable victory. Stevenage were fucking awful Quote

I don’t see why people think losing Toal is actually that big of a deal. He played well against Bradford but to be fair he’s been mediocre all season and cost us a good number of goals and I think Johnno and Forino with Tutu and Max either side is our best defence as long as we have Erhahon there to cover when Max gets forward as we know neither Gale or Ibby will cover the defence like ACD does on the right. I genuinely think Ruben will be the difference maker this weekend alongside either Dalby or Burstow and is our best chance of winning in normal time. My fear would be going to penalties and who we’d have left on after that heat. Quote
gonzo Posted Thursday at 10:29 Posted Thursday at 10:29 Aye echoing sentiments above the thought of Conway at full back for this gives me palpitations. EE will have his work cut out covering that side but I'm glad he's there. Quote

Keep hounding him out big lad. mad how folk ignore Toal being a liability but proper focus on Conway. these are all league 1 players. Johnston isn’t great but we are where we are Edited Thursday at 10:33 by Big E Quote

Nobody has ignored Toal being a liability whatsoever, particularly not me. The whole back line was colossus during our last fixture. All league 1 players aye but there's still a standard for promotion to meet. Quote
