YATESY Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Robbie "show us yer arse" (is some skill out of the question!!?) Savage was hardly unsung. His song was Top 3 in Paddock charts for a couple of seasons Totally agree with you. But how many of 'The Reebok' generation even know of the REAL Robbie Savage How many KNOW of Robbie Savage ???? what is your point here?
Northern Dancer Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 PAUL JONES Not so much an unsung hero, more legend. has to be in any all time wanderers team.
Burndens Bogs Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Scott Green - Played any position, often sub without moaning, and popped up with some important goals.
Traf Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Simon Coleman - Even if only for scoring THAT goal which still upsets my Burnley supporting mates. We only need 9 men! :D/ Coleman for me too.
Ray Von Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Surprised no-one has mentioned David "runs his socks off" Reeves yet.Again, a popular player with fans of the day but was complete pants in front of goal which, as a striker, I sort of hoped he might have an idea of what to do #-o Was going to say him. Ran his socks off for Philliskirk to get all the praise
Whites man Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Steve Thompson, a class act in some very average sides, the best midfielder in Div 3 in those days by a mile. Not many have played more games for the Whites as well.

Not many have played more games for the Whites as well. Was my favourite at the time. He was well liked until right at the end when I thought he was scape goated a bit before he went to Luton...
jules_darby Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Didn't he go to Leicester? PB I'm sure he went to Luton and lasted about 2 weeks before going to Leicester . Any statto types know??
Guest Biff Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Didn't he go to Leicester? PB I'm sure he went to Luton and lasted about 2 weeks before going to Leicester . Any statto types know?? Steve Thompson first game for Luton September 1991. Played 5 games for Luton then transferred to Leicester in October 1991.

Steve Thompson first game for Luton September 1991. Played 5 games for Luton then transferred to Leicester in October 1991. Think the conversation between David Pleat (Luton manager) and Phil Neal went something along the lines.... David: Right Phil, we'll give you ??500 upfront plus ??500,000 after 6 appearances Phil: Aye alright then. He's our best player but we're getting a good deal.
jules_darby Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Does anyone remember Steve Thompson scoring a goal when a keeper kicked it out (not very far), it bounced once and then at the very bottom of the 2nd bounce he half volleyed it in - skimming along the ground into the back of the net?? I've no idea when or which team it was against...
Whites man Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Think the conversation between David Pleat (Luton manager) and Phil Neal went something along the lines.... So David Pleat asked Phil Neal if he was "doing any business?"
frank_spencer Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Per Frandsen! - Always reliable and very rarely had a bad game!!!
Casino Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 never liked steve thompson or warren joyce neither was fit to lace the boots of neil redfearn unfortunately for redfearn, daddy wasn't the first team coach fortunately for redfearn, our loss was his gain
Whites man Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Redfearn walked out on the club, Tomo played over 300 games. Agree about Joyce though.
whiteyboy Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Tony 'Zico' Kelly, that goal away at Wigin ( I think ) Also Bruno, I know he's one of our modern day 'stars' , but I feel that he doesnt always get the praise he deserves.
Casino Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Redfearn walked out on the club, Tomo played over 300 games. he left 'cos he couldn't get a game he was an excellent player and we should have been building a team around him
