Wanderers Revamp Matchday Stadium Catering Operation

Catering Kiosk

AFTER extensive consultation and research involving the scrutinizing of catering operations at other sporting venues around the country, Bolton Wanderers Football Club, together with its catering partner De Vere Whites, will introduce a number of new initiatives for the forthcoming season - starting at this Saturday's pre-season friendly against AZ Alkmaar.

The Club fully recognises the concerns of supporters regarding the speed of service and the physical constraints of existing kiosks. The pressure on the kiosks, particularly during the 15 minutes leading up to kick off and during the half time interval, is such that inevitably there will be periods of increased waiting time. However new initiatives are intended to address these concerns in order to reduce waiting times and speed up the transaction process for customers.

New Initiatives

A major investment has been made by the Club and De Vere Whites in refurbishing the existing catering kiosks to include the quality of both signage and product presentation. Changes introduced for this season include:-

-Illuminated neon signage making it easier for the customer to select their food and beverages. The product and price will be far more visible, which will enable supporters to make their decision before they get to the front of the queue.

-Streamlined product range and the introduction of 'meal deals' offering enhanced value for money.

-A significant investment has been made in training and development of existing staff and the recruitment of new regular staff.

-Twenty-six vending machines have also been installed around the stadium concourses distributing confectionery and soft drinks, which should help to eliminate queues and improve service levels.

New Trial Initiatives

For the first four home league games of the season, up until the end of September, the Club will trial the following initiatives in various areas of the stadium:

-Supporters located in the Bolton Evening News (North) Stand Lower will be able to pre-order beer and cold beverages for their half-time refreshment. The vouchers can be purchased before the match from participating catering kiosks. Supporters will then be able to redeem their voucher at a designated area of the kiosk at half time. For those who are happy to pre-order their drinks it will reduce queuing time and take pressure off the kiosks during the particularly busy half time period.

Building on the success of the pre-pay operation at last summers concert held at the Reebok Stadium, the Club has decided to trial a pre-pay operation in Bolton Evening News (North) Stand Lower, which will involve the pre-sale to those waiting in queues of individual products and 'meal deal' vouchers thereby completing the financial transaction before reaching the front of the kiosk. This will take place during peak periods such as prior to kick off and at half time.

Following the trial period, the Club will conduct research with supporters and invite views and feedback.Supporters can send their views to feedback@bwfc.co.uk

If this trial proves successful, then we have plans to expand the initiatives to other areas of the stadium later this season.

can't wait to get a "meal deal" ](*,)

Don't get one then! ](*,)

FFS the club are trying to sort out something we all know is up the shitter but still people moan!

I would say they need to recruit some british people first instead of exchange students from the friggin' darkest Congo!

The queues would be less if they got some fukin' people working behind the kiosk that actually spoke and understood English, that understood English currency, that understood what a fukin' meat and pototo pie was and poured a decent pint without having 3 foot of froth on it! That would be a start.

Last season I bought 2 pints and give a fiver and got ??11 change! Now that could have gone towards a top quality striker! :D

Come back and have a whinge in 4 weeks when they have run out of tickets to order your ale.

Wonder if these tickets can be copied and printed at home 8-[

Will there not be a queue to buy the vouchers?

Will there not be a queue to use the vouchers?

Won't we just be queuing twice for 10 minutes a time instead of one 20 minute wait?

Will there be a B&Q? Or a BBQ? :D

Now all we need is the away fans being moved next to the East Lower - as the atmosphere really suffers when they're near Brixton and the rest of the Werthers mob in the West stand.

And the introduction of a standing area in the North Lower could help as well, although this will mean kicking the kiddies out of the North Upper, as the language may get a bit 'colourful'.

They do them 2 pint pots at Blackburn. Why can't Bolton do that? They know we're a bunch of alcoholics. If we wanted rehab we'd go and get it. But we don't. On matchday, we just want beer beer beer.
