Bolton Council - Snow

Featured Replies

It took me an hour to get from the Crown to the Beehive at Horwich today. Just as I was about to jump on motorway, got a call (hands free of course) telling me the heating was off at work and we could have the day off :yahoo:

Pub crawl?

and again at 3am this morning.

You may be aware that gritting is not effective unless there is some traffic to mix it in with the snow and ice. Given the volume of the snow that fell and the low amount of traffic, it has taken some time for the effects of the gritting and ploughing to take effect.

Would it not have been logical to have sent the gritters out about 5am. Just as some people are starting to go to work.

Took me 3hrs 42 mins to get to Sheffield and I set off earlier then normal to allow for conditions.

Most of that time was took up getting from West/ton onto M60.

What are you all moaning about? Its just drizzling here - I'd love a bit of snow, late into work what's the problem?

Don't forget frottagers, if we had the congestion charge, those of you setting off early would still be paying up do to Bolton Council's repeated inability to make even the busiest roads in the town passable.

If we had the congestion charge buses into town would run on bus lanes and thus not get caught up in the traffic caused by idiots who can't drive in a bit of inclement weather!

:pardon:

possibly but if there's no buses to work the grit into the ice and snow then it won't make a jot of difference!
