no balls Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Frank, are you there? Did your mate send the gritters out last night as the roads seem to have bit of black ice on them today? I went out at 5am to drive up and down and ensure it worked but I'm not sure if it did.
Traf Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 the roads seem to have bit of black ice. You sicken me. Always blame the black ice, eh? never the white ice that causes accidents, is it?

Frank, we have a grit box for our street with the old fashioned orange stuff in. There's not enough to go round for all of you but I'm willing to share some.

Ours is empty The council are refusing to refill it on the grounds that they all interfere with household pets But I've had the last laugh, as I have been using the empty box as a spare bin and am therefore getting more from my council tax than I should Spider 1 - Council Cuntsqueezers 0
ZiggyStardust Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Reet, I reckon I had the longest journey to work today. Daisy Hill to Oldham, normally takes 1 hour 15 mins, set off at 7.30 ish as normal, arrived at 11.45 a.m. 4 hours 15 mins. Set off 5.30 am. Arrived 11.30 am. Stoneclough to Glasgow. Motorways fine, until hitting a snowstorm just north of Dumfries. Two lasses in the office didnt turn in because they couldn't get there. They live a 5 minute walk awayt from the office. When I got back in the office this morning, first job to let them know that there was no point in them coming back in at all.
Bigtoe Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I've just done 5 turns of the Salt Mill down the front path, that should clear things up nicely ready for the morning.
no balls Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I've just done 5 turns of the Salt Mill down the front path, that should clear things up nicely ready for the morning. Don't forget, page 5 and 6 of the Daily Star on your windscreen!
Bigtoe Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I was going to put Page 3 on instead facing my steering wheel So I can read it on the way in

MickyD Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Had to laugh at a bit of spin from Nick Peel, head of Environmental Services: He was quote the other day, when caught out with the overnight snow, as saying along the lines of, "Don't blame us, we did the gritting but unless you have cars crunching the grit into the snow, it won't work." This morning he was boasting how they got it right last night. Double gritting teams out all night and the roads were ok. GET THIS MR PEEL, IT DIDN'T SNOW! OF COURSE THE ROADS WERE CLEAR. DON'T BLAME YOU WHEN IT GOES BELLY UP BUT CONGRATULATE YOU WHEN IT DOESN'T SNOW?
