jules_darby Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Get in there!! Been stuck in the office all day Sounds like a prety good game? I'm guessing not that much quality with the importance of it... What say ye that were there?
Dodgywheel Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Thought we were excellent today, and got that bit of luck, onwards and upwards now, felt a bit for elmander his confidence must be zero, especially when klasnic comes on and is superb.
TheWanderer1958 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 And what makes it better is that they should have had a penalty....as should we....and they hit the wood work three times!!! And someone needs to tell Davies that being a striker involves shooting and heading away from the keeper and on target occasionally......
Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 i think that a few glasses of red are in order tonite, especially as gladys is in Newcastle at a friends and young miss bgoe is on a sleepover.
Guest Frandsen08 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 played well today, especially at the back, although steinsson lost his man a few times, and jussi should of come for some balls but im being picky. muamaba was sublime today, never really gave silly balls away and tackling, tracking and ball winning was brilliant. holden really impressed me today calm on the ball, dead balls good, and likes to get stuck in elmander played well today but klasnic looks the deadlier of the two. overall it was the 3 points what mattered , onwards and upwards!!
JimmyRiddle Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 watched it all and despite them hitting the post we looked reasonable comfortable, and at last had some shape and looked like a team. Elmander looked OK first half, but couple of bad touches at start of second half and his nerve went, Klasnic looked dangerous when he came on. Steinsson had a hard time against a good player, Knight looked steady thought Rickets was excellent, and Robinson looked OK too. Midfield looked good, Mumaba awesome, CLY dangerous. I have to say though I think Davies is rapidly coming to the end of his time as the main striker in the team, doubt he will be at start of next season if we stay up. And for those of you gonna watch Football First, be warned Trevor Francis is a complete bell end!!!
Didledee Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) Lee is an absolute gem, his individual brilliance and passing ability won us that game. After half time we should of had a clear penalty, clear as day it was handball. Wolves did come close a few times, but so did Bolton, Elmander once again should of scored at least 1. Klasnic and Davies did a very nice 1 touch move, which Klasnic should of scored. In the 1st half we created a brilliant 1 touch move which Elmander didn't finish, that would of been an impressive goal. Steinsson really did struggle today though, he kept getting skinned or gave them to much space. Edited February 27, 2010 by DidledeeBwfc

Muamba was MOTM for me, he had everything that his usual game has, plus a passing ability that he found, his shooting is still toss but if he could then he wouldn't be with us. Thought that Elmander had a very decent 1st half but again Davies was average at best and that shot when through 1 on 1 in the 2nd half was abysmal. Holden looks like a tidy player and can put his foot on the ball, he was quiet for periods but in general and considering it was only his 2nd game in English football I thought he was excellent. No-one stood out as being bad today, there was the odd mix up at the back, Wilshere sometimes tried to do a bit too much, but really that would just be picky. Very important 3 points, and good to see the passion from Knight when he scored, and Coyle at the final whistle, seems a long time since we have seen it. Onwards and upwards

Holden went missing a bit second half I thought, looked tidy again though. Thought ricketts had another good game at centre back and we played some decent stuff. The 'fans' that booed Taylor onto the pitch can fcuk off for me though. Pay your money, entitled to your opinion etc; fair enough, but not sure how it helps anyone. Was only a minority but still can't understand it

Onwards and upwards It's a team game i know, but seeing as we only scored 1 goal, and that goal came from Lee's great play and pass that's why i said he won us the game. So much composure, some times players can get giddy when they go past a player and then lose the ball, not Lee, he ran with it until the right pass was available, he put it right on a plate for Knight. So much composure, some times players can get giddy when they go past a player and then lose the ball, not Lee, he ran with it until the right pass was available, he put it right on a plate for Knight. But knight still had to put it in the net, and there were other players that stopped goals going in our net, which therefore means Lee didn't single handedly win us the game. I know you have a soft spot for Lee, and I agree with you that he is a very very good player (maybe not quite as highly as you rate him), but I just thought the comment was a bit OTT.
Happy Wanderer Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Lee is an absolute gem, his individual brilliance and passing ability won us that game. Is it only me or did CYL go missing the in the 2nd half? Not for the first time this season SKD looks half the man he was, he's never been an out and out goal scorer but that shot in the 2nd half was more of a pass back to the keeper. We looked a different side when Klasnic came on, he made the defence think twice about pushing out too far. I hope OC takes 'em up on the contract offer and signs Klasnic during the summer (as we will stay up). Holden looks a good prospect, reminds me of Jules Darby but with skill. Still 3 points is erm 3 points. Come-on-you-whites.

Didledee Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 But he's not greedy, if a pass is on he will pass, sometimes he will stop and pass back to Steinsson. So then the play can be rather passed into midfield or Lee can then find a better position or run onto a pass rather than try and skin a defender, he just mixes up is play, he's not perfect but always seems to be involved. He set up Holden, Wilshere, Taylor today with chances and got back when needed and cleared some of wolves attacks. Muamba played really well, but is shooting is really terrible, does he even practise?
Werder barmen Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 good game..and a needed win for us.. only thing I think is our right side lacks the ability to defend..we have been ripped open down there in the last few games. i thought Holden was best player for us today..made some great challenges towards the end of the game when we were under abit of pressure. and ruled the midfield with good passing
tarian1979 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 played well today, especially at the back, although steinsson lost his man a few times, and jussi should of come for some balls but im being picky. muamaba was sublime today, never really gave silly balls away and tackling, tracking and ball winning was brilliant. holden really impressed me today calm on the ball, dead balls good, and likes to get stuck in elmander played well today but klasnic looks the deadlier of the two. overall it was the 3 points what mattered , onwards and upwards!! Muamba was excellent today, easily MOM. Steinsson wasnrt the best at all. Worry me our full backs, though robinson not as bad as usual

beer_swiller Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 At last a bit of luck. Make no mistake Bolton rode their luck today but could have easy been four up at half time. Another bad decision gone against us in that diabolical penalty appeal, `like to see that again`. Thought Holden complimented Muhamba in midfield and supported the two forwards well. A much needed three points, lets take it on from here.
surrey_white Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Fabrice Muamba - man of the match, he was awesome today, well happy with the 3 points, drinking for the whites, onwards and upwards
tarian1979 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 just opened a lager to toast the 3 points.
Mounts Kipper Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Good result and a decent performance but we have a long way to go our fixtures are not exactly kind, I stil think it will go down to the wire, I must say that the negativity of the Megson era seemd in the distant past, well done to Owen Coyle today for having the bottle to go for it and play the young lads Coyle been getting a little stick and proved some fans wrong today, also well done to the fans great support second half.
