Recent Filums I've Watched

Book of Eli - Denzel Washington - took two attempts to watch it all the way through - a bit of a duff Mad Max type film. Watchable. 4/10

Green Zone - Matt Damon - enjoyed it, always like films based out in Middle East, etc. 7/10

Planet 51 - was enjoying it til I nodded off, kids liked it - must be good. 6/10

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - see above - 6/10

Good Will Hunting - Matt Damon/Robin Williams - look, there was fook all else on this Saturday just gone, never seen it before - quite enjoyed - the scene were Robin Williams was going on about his late wife farting in bed had me in tears - half decent. Oh, and Minnie Driver looked far better than I can ever remember. 7/10

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - its Swedish so no famous actors/actresses - great thriller - didn't bother me that it was in subtitles great revenge scene on the pervy Probation Officer- looking forward to the 2nd in the trilogy in the next week or so - well worth the watch and highly recommended. 9/10

That's me, Jonathan Woss, over and out.

Number one target -  6/10. Could and should have been much better given the storyline they had to work with. Passes a couple of hours though

i like counter reviews to that kinda stuff , read an amazing one once about kes, cant find it now , but it made me laugh.. about it being like being beaten over the head .. making him (the reviewer) more tory . and hes taking about having to watch it in a cinema for school in the 80s so hes like 12 .

Both great. He also had a good cameo in the marvel movie he directed, Thor Ragnarok.

Great timing!

Greyhound .

Made for apple tv so not as dark as Das Boot but fairly straightforward telling of the grim reality of being the hunted of North Atlantic Convoys.

Cheers pal. I reckon your rating was bang on. Enjoyed it.

Just finished watching Rise Of The Footsoldier, which is loosely based on the Rettenden Range Rover murders in early December 1995.

Overall not a bad film and although it has a better cast (Sean Bean, Tom Wilkinson etc), a lot better than Essex Boys or its sequels.

Next I think a bit of classic 70s cannibalsploitation with Joe D'Amato (Of Anthropophagus, Absurd and Porno Holocaust infamy) and his 1977 classic Emmanuelle And The Last Cannibal.

A very funny Silence Of The Lambs parody I found a few months ago...

Train to Busan - Never had a zombie film leave me with a lump in my throat before.

Reet good. Not quite as good as Snowpiercer though (the original one not the remake which will undoubtedly be shit)

Train to Busan is excellent.

Over the last fortnight I've been ploughing through the Star Wars movies on Disney+

New Hope - 8/10

Empire - 10/10

Jedi 7/10

Phantom Menace 6/10

Clones 7/10

Revenge 9/10

Solo 8/10

Rogue One 9/10

Force Awakens 7/10

Last Jedi 9/10

Rise of Skywalker 7/10

Fancied The Lighthouse for ages

Got round to it last night

Half the time i couldn't understand what they were saying, the other half had no idea what was going on

I like weird but this was proper arthouse wank

2/10

Then Mid90s tonight, coming of age type thing, written and directed by Jonah Hill

Much better

8/10

Lighthouse is superb. Arty yes, but properly engaging nonetheless. Willem Defoe is an absolute master.

See that's now two films I've watched him in where I've turned off half way through

The other being Antichrist

Subtitles might've been helpful

Well Lars von Trier is hardly known for his films being accessible. Antichrist is a strange one.

I've watched a ton of Hammer films this past week, The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires being especially shit.
