Butchers....

Featured Replies

Anyone still go to their local Butchers? Any recomendations of any and what do you get. I buy most of my meat from Tesco, but pay a fortune.

We use our local butcher (Sumners in Leigh) - miles better but not much difference in cost.

Used to get stuff off bury market but it's much easier to get from Tesco, as a lefty I'd love to support my local businesses but convenience wins every time.

We use a fella near us in Heywood, always has some top sausages in and the cuts of steak he has in are superb, he even saves us stuff for the dog as well, nothing is a problem always a friendly welcome and resonable prices and the qulaity of meat is good stuff.

:good:

Meat Direct at Tonge Fold, excellent butchers. They are always busy and have 4 vans always delivering because theyre that good. I also like the meat from Macro in Eccles, it dont shrink :good:

Greeley's in Horwich. Not cheap but at least you know where the beast has come from if you like that sort of thing.

Great fillet steak at Faircloughs in Egerton, as well as those fellas on Chorley Old Road

About 2/3rds up on the left, across from Network Dry Cleaners

Go at 8 am on Saturday and you'll hear them singing homage to the owner of the dry cleaners

Was only talking about this earlier after I put a couple of supermarket rashers on this morning that were only lust thicker than clingfilm.

Bolton market, go on a sat afternoon ( if your not at the game)

they sell a lot of produce of cheap from 4pm onwards

Atkinson's in Harwood used to have a good reputation when they killed their own on site. Not sure now it's brought in from Bolton Abbertoir.

Supermarket meat is generally utter shite compared to a decent butchers; supermarket bacon looks like tracing paper and is full of water.

Like NB I usually use Greeley's in Horwich - top notch it is too.

Hibberts.

Market St Westhotdog best butchers by miles.

Queuing out of the door by half eight on a Saturday morning.

Agreed, we patronise Greeley's as well. Quality meat and fantastic pork pies.

Always get mine from Hilary Briss

We always use the local butchers, generally the stuff from the supermarket is pretty dire. The quality is so much better, and the price is about the same. We also get our veg and eggs from the local farm as well. However, if we don't plan properly and want something after about 5 o'clock at night, then it has to be the supermarket, as the local businesses are generally shut.......the bone idle fuckers

Hibberts, Westhoughton.

Purveyors of quality meats.
