Keep meaning to get round to buying his autobiography, thanks for the reminder 👍

Is all the ink smudged from every time he twitched?

As a Boltonian resident of Oxford this was a perfect recommendation to pop up on You Tube. All the way back to 1981 and scenes from my adopted home city that have long since changed or disappeared. All interwoven with one of our great BWFC managers in the shape of the inimitable Ian Greaves. "What the hell are you doing down here Greavsie?"

Robert Maxwell's involvement less appealing!

Great football man Greaves, it’s him I have to thank for me being a Wanderer.

He was unplayable on his day.

Brilliant, Brilliant player.

He was unlucky to have such an array of strikers infront of him for England during his peak.

Shame about his demons, he could've been up there with the best of them.

Aye, him and Duncan Ferguson, with better luck injury wise and they could've been up there

Great to see that, didn't know it existed.  Loved the Wemberlee chants from our fans, even pre-match, for a 4th round game against Halifax!  It hadn't occurred to me before that we got to play Halifax because they'd just put Man City out in a very famous cup shock.

A treat to see that. I was at the game. Remember there being an awful lot of hype about Halifax after they'd knocked City out on a mudbath at The Shay in the third round. You can see it was a really big Halifax following that day.

As Casino said this was Ian Greaves's last match so a real end of an era. In a media interview a week or two before this game he'd said: "It's sacking time" . He knew what was coming. Stan Anderson was sitting on the bench with him and, of course, took over. In retrospect we'd probably have been much better off just keeping Greaves.

Jimmy Armfield sparked it off for me getting us out of Div 3 in my first full season watching us but Greaves will always be my favourite manager. The seasons in Div2 and the Frankie years “made” me a Wanderer for life

Remember seeing a sad man sat at the bar in Fanny’s quite regularly on his own in those days. Must have been his local? When it was a shit Greenalls pub. He really looked like the game had worn him down. Funny how back in the day folk left him to himself and didn’t mither him

Was that possibly Roy Greaves last ever goal for us?

Nice to see the manager and his assistant smoking away!

Halifax had beaten City with the help of a dreadful pitch and a hypnotist who had been in the dressing room before the game. He said he didn't need to see the players again as his 'powers' hadn't worn off.
