It was. It is one of the few programmes that I kept when I had a massive clearout just because of the cover

Edit: saddo just had to go and find it

still got shitloads of programmes - plenty from the 1970s when I first started going, but loads of older ones folk gave me (including Man Utd programmes immediately before and after the Munich disaster, old cup final programmes, all sorts).

Don't have the heart to get rid, but no idea what to do with them as none of my kids are interested.

Same here. Dug them out during covid. Enjoyed looking at them. I also found a Leeds Vs Sunderland FA Cup final prog in pristine condition. I never knew I had it.

I gave mine away , the older ones to the bwfc remembrance group and the Reebok ones to the parent of a young wanderers mad lad .

I kept a couple back from the 50s cup finals ( from my uncle , including match day ticket stubs )

Oh and the Frankie celebrations photo was Mansfield... There keeper Rod Arnold made a banks style worldie save ..I remember the ref raising his arms in disbelief and then clapping the save

Was that game randomly on motd

Or maybe it was stoke around the same time

Dont think so. We were on against Luton that year and the 0-0 at Stoke was on Granada iirc.

Lever end, headed from burnden side towards manny road

Same.

I have a couple hundred programmes mainly from 1980s onwards with some earlier ones . and a couple of large boxes of BEN , Buff, Pink & National newspapers when we had games of note .  Im gonna stick them on EBay as a job lot for 99p collection only a couple of times then after that its off to the recycle .

Keeping the odd few like last at Burnden Park Sir Nats testimonial etc.

The old paper tickets ive put into one of thos perspex frame thingsas a sort of collage and Ive even found an old season ticket that still has the BOGOFF Big Mac vouchers on the back.

Which reminds me I was gonna start a thread about unusual Wanderers merchandise , Ive got some strange stuff still .

That was the Luton game. We won 2-1 with Worthy's looped header.  Must admit, in my mind it was towards the embankment end though.

Edit. Found it!

Great work

Honestly though, im not convinced its that goal

Keep looking!

We were on 3 times that season. Luton, Spurs and one I'd forgotten about, a 1-1 draw at home to Brighton. Could be that? Only other possibility would be Derby in the first division the following season. A 2-1 win.

The team sheets must have needed some alteration.

from memory, front cover of one immediately after was "will united go on?", one after that was "united will go on".

Mam's old boss gave them to me when I was a kid.

Ignore the Jan Mjolby accent and the sex trafficked 15 yr old Siberian wife..... Ive always wanted to try this .
Interesting if its true that you need a ticket that doesnt come with the room or shutters come down like something out of the Purge.

Imagine if it was like the Preston 93 game , youd boot ya way thru them than say they just werent working afterwards.

Anyway.....

I think we were on ITV on the first game of the season at Burnley as well (W0-1). Then of course Fulham at home on the final day.

Our game v Leeds in the League Cup was covered too.

Yes, the three I referred to were just the MotD games. Blackpool (H) was another Granada one and I think a 0-0 at Hull?

As a youngster in the 70s stood on the Burnden Paddock there was always a bit of excitement seeing cameras in the gantry above the Manny Road stand

Have this memory that I’d be hoping we’d be on MOTD or ITV on a Sunday and being disappointed that we weren’t

Back then did the regional ITV companies film the away team for their regional programmes only or am I talking/thinking/remembering bollocks?

Not sure if I've misunderstood your question but; the regions had their own football programmes (Granada kick off, LWT the big match etc) that usually had a local game as their main event then would show brief highlights of one of their local sides away from home, using coverage from whichever regional broadcaster operated in that area.

Ah OK. I just have a hazy memory of seeing the cameras but not then seeing any highlights. I wondered if LWT, for example, might have sent cameras to Burnden to cover say Chelsea and showed it on their programme but Granada didn’t show it, but I think you’re correct
