The Offside goal by Charles from almost along the line. Vic & Collins offside but no way could the linesman tell that vic was obstructing the keepers eyeline . Flagged when the ball hit the back of the net , @6:45 ish ...

One of my favourite games. It was not lost on me at the time how spoilt we were !

From 1984 (as an 11 yr old) and bankrupt ,  to then , Id seen us play at Wembley , Win at wembley on the terraces , lift a trophy , Embarrass many many top division clubs in the cup  , then be an established top division force and  being the only team out of the top 4 to finish 6th or above for 4 consecutive years , play in Europe twice . Watch World Cup Winners . Champions league winners and nomads kick the shit out of the prem elite , Ive seen it all .

I will die a happy man with no fear and no regrets and when I met Sir Nat said , "every single game was a pleasure, thanks for coming  cock, it means the World to me"

Footnote, eric was still going strong in the summer

I bet @FrancisFogartyknows him?

If it's the same bloke ( I've only ever seen him with his cap on).Eric Tomlinson still bowls at Doe Hey in Farnworth. He's 91 and still bowls corner to corner, (which is quite a chuck). He bowls in a couple of leagues and can hold his own when it come to piss takingIf it's not I apologise.

Do that at a Wigan game, and the Inbreds would still come third behind the Merseyside clubs.

God, I love this goal and the celebrations that followed.

Even though Wigan don’t get close on my scale to Blackburn on local rivalry, how marvellous would it be if we could celebrate a winning goal against these muppets?
