One of my favourite games. Watched with the old man in an almost empty pub , the Bulls Head in Wilpshire . Went Nuts at the equaliser . 

Some blackburn lads heard the shouts and came to give us shit assuming we were man U fans and left quickly when we said we were Bolton.  Maybe they thought there was more of us in the bogs or something. ....

Its Strange , I thought Pedersen was terrible . Henrik Pederful , Henrik Pedestrian .  I groaned everytime he was on the team sheet .

 

But like you say his goals were legendary and if you just watched his highlight real for Bolton he looks a World beater.  I just thought he was a poor forward and a worse left back .

Met him a few times and obviously didnt say a word other than to fawn all over him , he is an incredibly nice guy and loves Bolton and all things Wanderers . 

Was it just me being drunk at games or is my older mind now playing tricks on me ......again. 

Oh and Im convinced he got his "gullwing" celebration from a video game.

You are definitely not wrong regarding the fan reaction to Pedersen.

The criticism of both him and Allardyce for selecting him was akin to the reaction we get today when Evatt persists with Dan and Vic.

And before anyone jumps on me, I’m not comparing Dan and Pedersen as players and theres no denying when you look back he scored some cracking goals.

But I vividly remember shaking my head at the moaners, wannabee  managers, master tacticians, fan experts, who berated BSA and Pedersen as if they knew better and saw him train everyday.

Same stuff we hear today when someone disagrees with the manager or takes a dislike to a player.

Every BWFC team throughout the generations, be it a top premiership team or one struggling in the lower leagues, has its players who some fans enjoy calling out.

I’ll personally never get it.

Don’t get me wrong there’s players who don’t live up to either our expectations, what we paid, in comparison to others who should be playing etc etc.

But the extent some go to, to continually keep the barrage going, is a bit unfair IMO.

This squad have its fair share; Dan, Vic, Williams, Coleman. Yes they might not be good enough and it doesn’t take an intellectual to throw together some evidence to back up their point.

But there’s one thing for sure, sniggering at them when their names are read out or shouting at the manager for selecting them, or bellowing at them when they make a mistake and the new age evil sending them some abuse on social media, is NEVER going to help.

For clarification I wasn’t accusing Ani of anything, I don’t have a clue what his opinion of him was, I’ll trust you are right. I just remember he received loads of criticism from some “fans” at the time.

The other thing that shroud be remembered about Pedersen is he once took a shot from about 30 yards, out with only one player left to beat, that went so badly wide the ref assumed it was a corner (Chelsea at home)
