Take Hunt Off Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 The Boro & Hull City games brought back painful memories we didn't travel In great numbers (unless it was local) in those black & white days so it was easier to get a good kicking as well.Sat in the centre stand for the Boro game Compliments of the great man himself Nathaniel Lofthouse. COYW Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Has anyone got any footage of the Everton semi final, 2 legs 1978 ? Ive searched but failed. It'll be on here eventually: http://www.itnsource.com/en/shotlist//ITVClips/1977/02/15/316706/?s=bolton+wanderers&st=1&pn=1 Quote
Casino Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 id be very surprised if there wasnt local news footage of the 3-0 against united also, if the beeb ever do similar, qpr, when worthy scored his best ever goal, was filmed Quote
NZtrotter Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I thought the Ipswich one was his best ever, or was the that the best ever at Burnden ? Quote
Casino Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 he says everybody knows about the ipswich one, but he scored a better one at qpr i think we won 3-1 it was back in the days when bbc had a news show about 7pm on the saturday and ended it with the goals from a london league game (not one that was being shown on motd) that day i remembered it just too late and turned over as the football bit was going off Quote
bwfc2003 Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Ipswich goal was his best ever televised goal, but the one at QPR would have been goal of the century Quote
Casino Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Ipswich goal was his best ever televised goal, but the one at QPR would have been goal of the century did you see it/ i vaguely recollect reading or hearing that it was a long range 'chip the keeper' number but id appreciate your account Quote
Baba O'Riley Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 View from a Chelsea fan: http://www.cfcnet.co.uk/2007/01/chelsea-4-3-bolton-wanderers/#sthash.kZEWzS4O.dpuf "It was a grey, cold day and Wanderers led 2-1 as an uninspiring game reached its closing stages, when Worthington, who already had his name on the scoresheet, decided to liven things up. Receiving the ball forty yards from goal, the big striker turned past one mesmerised defender and twisted past another before unleashing an unstoppable shot past Phil Parkes in the Rangers goal. He celebrated with a slide along the turf on his knees directly in front of where I was sitting in the South Africa Road Stand"... Quote
bwfc2003 Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 did you see it/ i vaguely recollect reading or hearing that it was a long range 'chip the keeper' number but id appreciate your account How I remember it was being desperate for a pee after a day on the London ale, and thinking just watch this QPR attack before I pay a visit - as I was just about to set off the ball was played into the feet of Worthy - just outside his own box - he dummied a couple of qpR players and set off on a mazy run, which my memory has him beating about twenty defenders!! before cutting in from the wing and hitting an exocet missile from God knows how far out which rose, dipped and swerved all in one movement before leaving the keeper on his arse (and that was when footballs didnt swerve)- thank god I left it a couple of minutes before going for a pee. But to be honest Frankie scored some beautiful goals in his time at Burnden - just think him and Jay jay in the same team!!! Quote

Casino Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 tis a good point when i hear sub 25s moaning about sky killing football, they really dont know how lucky they are the odd away i missed in my late teens early twenties, i always hoped we drew 0-0 hated missing a bolton goal then that granada saturday tea time show came along and we might get 10 seconds after tranmere n stockport! I think bbc have got it right with the FL show - highlights of 1 game and goals/major incidents from all the others then us senile old buggers can refresh our memories seeing the goals again Quote
L/H White Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Kellett assist today Lovely free kick it was Quote
COYW Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 One of three consecutive away games at the start of the season because the Reebok wasn't ready. Sounds like we had a big support down there: Quote
davidjack Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Yeah, we did. Probably about 2,500 to 3,000 if I remember rightly. Beardsley was the difference. Shame his legs had gone by Xmas that season. Quote
